Chapter 2 - Chapter 1

It was drizzling lightly at that moment.

Minato held his umbrella and looked around expressionlessly. He had been in this world for several years.

He also clearly understood what kind of world this was.

Ghouls were unique to this world.

They were a species of humanoid beings that survived by eating human flesh.

Normal human food tasted disgusting to them, and forcing them to eat it could harm their bodies. Some people described them as "monsters disguised as humans" because they usually showed no obvious abnormalities.

They possessed a "Kagune," and each individual's Kagune was different, resulting in different predatory and combat abilities. However, the better the food they consumed, the more energy they gained. Because of this, there were even more powerful ghouls that cannibalized their own kind.

Before transmigrating, he had heard his junior brothers talk about this anime.

He knew this was a cruel world where ordinary people could easily become food if they were not careful.

However, his understanding of this world was limited to the first few episodes, including the main character and a few supporting characters.

After all, he had not had much time for anime in the past.

As for why he came into this world—

Who knew what had happened to Dao?

Logically speaking, he should have been dead by then.

But when he woke up again, he found himself in this world.

And he possessed some incredible powers.

In addition, there was a System that was not very useful.

Despite being called a System, it was actually just a simple task publisher.

Moreover, it only had one mission category, with five large characters written across it:

"The Radiance of Mortal Nature."

"Phew... never mind that. Time to get to work."

Minato took a deep breath. He had probably been caught up in some major event, but that did not matter right now.

His priority now was to go to the pigeon's house and make sure she submitted her manuscript.

After all, if that famous writer did not submit her manuscript, he would not have money to eat.

Indeed, he was a truly humble transmigrator.

Minato ran wildly through the rain toward the home of the author he was looking for, umbrella in hand.

Upon arriving, Minato pulled out a key, but—

His eyes widened.

"They changed the locks?!"

They had gone so far as to lock him out. Clearly, this person had stood him up again.

Minato snorted coldly, straightened the key ring, and unlocked it with practiced skill.

Click.

The lock opened.

Minato tiptoed into the room, intending to sneak in and teach the person who had delayed things for over ten days a lesson.

But when he entered the inner room, his entire body froze.

He smelled a strong, familiar scent of blood.

Human blood.

It was the same smell he remembered from when he died.

Thinking about the state of this world, Minato's body trembled slightly.

That pigeon could not have been caught by some passing ghoul.

Impossible.

The 11th Ward (Otae Ward) was considered relatively peaceful, and it was near a CCG branch, so trouble should have been unlikely.

Regardless, Minato could smell human blood, and his body instinctively tensed.

A faint silver glow flickered across his right hand.

Prepared for danger, Minato suddenly leaned around the corner.

What did he see?

A green-haired woman lay on the ground covered in blood.

No—

The entire room was drenched in thick blood.

It was horrifying, as though a psychopathic killer had created this scene.

But after seeing it, Minato relaxed.

Or rather—

His eyes twitched.

He was suppressing his anger.

His gaze fixed on the beautiful green-haired woman lying on the floor as though she were trash.

Minato clasped his hands together and said devoutly:

"Gao Cai, since you're dead, I won't have a salary anymore. No money means I starve to death, so please become my final dinner. I will be grateful to you."

After speaking, he picked up the bloodstained kitchen knife from the floor and swung it toward the girl without hesitation, like some terrifying killer.

At that moment, the blood-covered girl seemed to sense danger and suddenly opened her eyes.

Then she saw a kitchen knife flying toward her.

Her eyes widened.

"Are you serious?!"

Clang!

The knife grazed her cheek before embedding itself into the wooden floor.

Minato straddled the girl.

His right hand gripped the knife buried in the floor while his left hand slammed down beside her.

Then, wearing an almost demonic expression, he leaned close and growled:

"Takatsuki Sen-sensei... what exactly are you doing?!"

The girl called Takatsuki Sen swallowed nervously.

She seemed to realize she had genuinely angered him.

"Looking for inspiration..."

She attempted to fool her way out of it by acting cute.

Did he look stupid enough to believe that?

At that moment, Minato and Takatsuki Sen were practically nose-to-nose.

"No."

"Just knowing Dao is enough."

Minato's expression softened slightly.

He pulled the knife free and looked at the genius female writer sprawled across the floor.

"Mr. Minato, you really don't know how to treat women properly. That's a tradition in your country, isn't it?"

Takatsuki Sen slowly stood.

For some reason, despite being covered in blood, she possessed a strange beauty.

Like a killing angel from Hell—

Bloody and beautiful.

Though honestly, it was probably because Takatsuki Sen was simply very attractive.

Minato flicked blood from the knife and sneered.

"For a pigeon, all you need is a knife."

"Hey, don't be so scary."

Takatsuki Sen looked genuinely embarrassed.

Did an editor really need to go this far?

It was only a few late manuscripts.

Was it really that serious?

"Of course it is," Minato replied. "My food expenses depend on it."

Takatsuki Sen widened her eyes.

"How did you know what I was thinking?"

"Hmph. I've thoroughly studied Takatsuki Sen's habits just to prevent missed deadlines."

Minato looked very proud.

"Ugh... gross."

Takatsuki Sen waved dismissively.

"Observing such tiny details about a young girl... you're a pervert, Mr. Minato."

"Hmph. If you submitted your manuscript on time, I wouldn't need to."

"So does that mean I can keep delaying it as long as I don't complain?"

Takatsuki Sen's emerald-like eyes sparkled.

Minato smiled.

Then he picked up a pair of chopsticks.

"Do you see these chopsticks?"

Takatsuki Sen nodded rapidly.

In one swift motion—

Snap.

The chopsticks broke cleanly in half.

Takatsuki Sen could even feel the wind from the motion.

"Understand now?"

"My dear Gao Baixian."

"Understood."

Takatsuki Sen awkwardly looked away.

"Um... Mr. Minato."

"What?"

"How did you know I was lying? I thought I acted pretty convincingly."

Hearing that, Minato rolled his eyes.

He pointed toward the pile of hospital blood bags sitting on the table.

"You should at least clean those up."

"Oh."

Takatsuki Sen clapped her hands innocently.

Had the clever Takatsuki Sen really forgotten?
