Itadori stared at his hands in fascination. His body was overflowing with cursed energy—so much that he couldn't contain it. The excess poured out of him like a massive aura that nearly covered the entire crater.

The sensation confused him. His reserves were never this vast, and yet now… it felt as though he could expand his domain several times over and still keep fighting at full strength.

It was a strange feeling.

'What happened?' he wondered. He hadn't made any binding vow, and the god hadn't mentioned anything about granting him power. This sudden surge made no sense.

Narrowing his eyes, he focused inward, analyzing his own soul with deep concentration. Something had changed—something significant. If it wasn't a physical shift, he should be able to detect it through Idle Transfiguration.

"...?"

It didn't take long for him to notice it. Not an inconsistency, not an error—no, his soul itself had become different. It was stronger, more stable. Once, his soul had felt like a roaring inferno of uncontrollable flames. Now, it resembled a blazing star—a sphere of plasma energy, steady yet radiating an undeniable power.

It didn't just enhance his cursed energy reserves; it strengthened his body as well. He felt his muscles pulse with power, his grip easily twice as strong as before.

But what caused it?

His gaze shifted toward Sukuna. The furious expression of the King of Curses pulled a faint, mocking smile to his lips.

Of course. He finally understood. He hadn't realized it before because he had never seen his soul without Sukuna's influence.

By housing Sukuna, his soul had been forced to sustain two opposing wills: to imprison the King of Curses, and to keep his own body alive. His body had constantly been fighting to suppress Sukuna, which not only split his soul into two fronts but also weakened every part of him.

While battling enemies, he had also been waging an internal war against the very embodiment of curses.

Like a body trying to run with two hearts beating out of rhythm.

But now—free from that conflict, free from Sukuna's influence—his soul and body finally functioned at their full potential.

If the soul changes, the body changes.

If the soul suffers, the body suffers.

If the soul strengthens, the body becomes powerful.

And right now, in terms of raw power, Itadori was a completely different beast.

'If I'd known he was limiting me all this time, I would've freed him myself,' he thought with a smirk, flexing his fingers to feel his newfound strength.

!

Instinct kicked in—Itadori stepped aside just in time to dodge a massive slash that tore through the air beside him.

'Just as I thought… I can see them now.' A grin spread across his face. Invisible slashes would no longer be such a threat.

Sukuna, despite the boy's absurd transformation, didn't feel fear or hesitation. Only rage. Rage that the brat had recovered at all. The cursed energy radiating from him—he knew for a fact that the kid had never possessed this before.

A vein bulged on his forehead. Kenjaku, you deranged fool.

He realized instantly what had happened. When he freed himself, he noticed he had the power of one extra finger—and it didn't take long to figure out whose fault that was.

"Jujutsu sorcerers really are a pain in every era," Sukuna said with a feral grin, his cursed energy exploding outward in fury.

"It can't be helped," Itadori replied, his tone calm but sharp. "I guess stubbornness is just part of a sorcerer's nature."

"Brat…" Sukuna growled, his cursed energy clashing violently with Itadori's in a deadlocked struggle where neither side yielded an inch. "What do you think you can do?"

The question dripped with contempt. Itadori's strength was undeniable—his growth faster than any sorcerer Sukuna had ever seen. Deep down, the King of Curses knew the boy before him possessed a talent that rivaled, if not surpassed, his own.

But he refused to acknowledge it.

A creature born solely to imprison him—one who carried unshakable conviction and ideals that Sukuna had watched him pursue relentlessly.

Their souls had been linked, and as much as he hated to admit it, Sukuna had felt the boy's motivations firsthand.

No matter how much torment he inflicted, Itadori never wavered. He simply endured, moved forward, and kept fighting with unbreakable resolve.

Knowing that such a person existed—someone who viewed weakness not as a curse but as a path to growth, someone whose sheer willpower pushed him closer to Sukuna's level—disgusted him.

Ideals, conviction, strength born from a soul he deemed beneath him… he could never accept it.

He refused to acknowledge Yuji Itadori.

"Well," Itadori's voice cut through Sukuna's thoughts. The young sorcerer crossed his arms, pretending to ponder before flashing a confident smile. "I was thinking of knocking some sense into you, but now I see that's not going to cut it, so…"

Something dangerous flickered in his eyes. The air shifted as killing intent surged from him, slamming into Sukuna like a storm. The King of Curses didn't flinch—but his fury only grew.

"I'll just kill you instead."

Veins bulged across Sukuna's face. His teeth ground together, eyes bloodshot and blazing with murderous hatred.

"Brat…" he hissed, cursed energy pooling in his hand with lethal intensity. "I'll destroy you and everything you care about!"

"...Try me."

Whoosh!

A massive slash flew toward Itadori, who tracked it with his eyes and sidestepped it effortlessly.

But before his feet even hit the ground, Sukuna had already closed the distance, eyes sharp and killing intent flaring.

Bam!

Their arms collided, a barrage of cursed-energy-infused strikes exploding between them as they clashed across the crater at blinding speed. Yuki, having retreated to a safer distance, could barely follow their movements.

Bam! Bam! Bam!

Their fists met again and again—each blow blocked, each counter perfectly timed. Sukuna, more precise and experienced, managed to defend himself, but irritation crept into his expression. He couldn't keep this up forever.

In raw technique, Sukuna held the edge. But Itadori compensated with sheer power and speed—something the King of Curses struggled to match. Maybe if he were at full strength—if his soul were perfectly synchronized with his vessel and he had all twenty fingers—he could overpower him. But as he was now, fighting with only twelve fingers' worth of power, it was far from easy.

Each of Itadori's punches made his arms tremble. He wasn't just feeling the physical impact—each strike reverberated through his very soul.

Truly… a pain in the ass.

Whoosh!

A massive slash forced them apart. Blood spilled from a fresh wound on Itadori's chest, but his newly awakened reverse cursed technique was already knitting it shut.

"What's wrong? Afraid to fight me head-on?" he taunted, a smirk playing on his lips. Sukuna clicked his tongue in irritation.

The jab wasn't random. During their clash, Itadori had realized something: in raw physical strength, he now surpassed Sukuna. Whatever the King of Curses had sacrificed for his freedom, it had cost him dearly. Enough that Itadori could now stand his ground with confidence.

If he kept up the pressure, it was only a matter of time before he landed a decisive hit.

"...!"

Itadori's eyes widened as an even faster slash cut through the air toward him. He twisted his body, barely avoiding it.

But that was only the beginning. Sukuna unleashed a relentless storm of invisible slashes, tearing through the battlefield.

Itadori didn't look surprised. He had expected this. And fortunately, he had prepared something special for this fight.

"...?!"

Sukuna's eyes widened when the boy didn't even try to dodge. At the last moment, intense heat erupted from Itadori's body—his own plasma-like slashes clashing against Sukuna's and canceling them out entirely.

"Haha!" Itadori laughed, half-nervous and half-exhilarated. "Didn't think that would actually work!"

Sukuna's teeth clenched hard enough to crack.

This fight… was not going to be easy.
