Chapter 279 - Chapter 7 : Wolverine Fanboy

Disclaimer - I don't own Marvel/Disney IP. I am just a humble keyboard warrior. Also, the Chaos Gacha was made by Bronz here. I am just dipping my toe in the water, so to speak.

Somewhere in Maine

–Mike–

Taking a deep breath, he walked through the forest that they had hidden in. Alcina carried the door using a contraption they built, the size of which made it cumbersome to carry by hand because they needed it to be big enough so that a motorcycle could get through the portal. Had it been just both of them, a 3 foot door would have worked, as they could just crawl through the portal.

Still, it was not like Alcina had any trouble carrying the door, especially since they built the holder. Since he was not a carpenter and had very little in terms of life skills, it was just a narrow piece of plywood, connected to the door using screws. That was all. It was a rush job, and that was fine for now.

It was the day after he had decided to get out of his comfort zone and become a worthy wielder of the Chaos Gacha, and he had to say, he had done a fantastic job of bringing them to a totally isolated area, with nothing but wilderness for miles. Hell, it had been over an hour since they began the walk, and still, there was no sign of the road he knew to be in his path.

He was not lost because Alcina regularly heard cars in the same direction, telling him that it was only a matter of distance. Using the motorcycle was an option, but the thing had gone kaput after the third time he had ignored all the stones, gravel, and dirt that had hit its underbody, leaving them with a leaky motorcycle.

He had not gotten rid of it because it was his first proper theft and he would like to hold onto it, so that one day, in the future, he could compensate that poor biker appropriately. In the middle of his dreams of being rich in the future, he felt Alcina just yank him back abruptly,

"Eh!" He definitely did not yelp as Alcina surged forward, looking in the air with narrowed eyes. Realizing something was off, he instantly switched his ability from Vinelash because of the training he felt he could do in a forest like environment, only to blanch and nearly step back at what he was sensing.

A massive object, a couple of hundred meters above them, just floating mid air. The thing about it was that he could detect the flow of air around it. It was currently floating using VTOL tech, like the one he had seen online about that experimental totally not outdated sample that the US Military showed to the rest of the world.

The only people who had access to that, and were hunting him down was SHIELD or the US Army, but he didn't think that the Army would come in so silently. No, if this was the Army, he would either be dead or drowned in so much lead that he would not be able to see what Alcina was protecting him from.

That left just SHIELD, and they were only marginally better than the Army, even if he presumed that the people meeting him were not the Nazi remnants that will soon take over the entire organisation.

"Alcina," He whispered to her, "Be ready to deploy the door immediately."

He had no idea what could happen if the initial entry door was destroyed, but he would take the bet that SHIELD will do everything in their power to preserve the thing instead of destroying it."

Alcina nodded as the jet came closer, realising that they had been seen through. He noted the lack of any movement around the jet. He waited for something like machine guns or missiles to become ready to be deployed, but in the end, nothing of that sort happened.

What happened was the jet becoming visible to him.

Jet Black. Sleek. An odd shape that was most definitely not a Quinjet, was revealed to them as the Jet slowly lowered itself to land on the small rocky clearing in front of them.

For encountering Charles Xavier and his boy band, Gold Ticket X1

He was so shocked he didn't even have time to ponder the small joke the Gacha cracked, as he rolled the ticket on instinct, ready to get something, anything that could be helpful.

[VII - The Chariot]

Rare Item

Tarot Card - Allows you to teleport to any location within your perception, even through memory. 168 Hour Cooldown

He relaxed slightly, the Tarot card that arrived in his Item space serving as his emergency escape card, allowing him to escape anywhere, as long as he had an image of it in his mind. So far, the clearest image he had was of his Pocket Beach Dimension. Also, this just solved his problem of escaping the pocket dimension if the door was destroyed.

He could just teleport to a known location, and use another door to get Alcina out.

He looked up as he and Alcina both slowly stepped near the jet, the back bay opening up to reveal the iconic members of the X-Men.

Charles Xavier and his boy band, huh?

He resisted the urge to smile and spoke out loud before any of them could say anything else, "Don't try to peek into my mind, Charles. I will know, and I might do something that we all regret." As far as warnings went, that was a pretty weak one. Even he could tell that, but then again, he had a fair understanding of the Gacha.

His familiars were immune to mind reading abilities, and so was he, to a limited extent. He will feel a pressure in his mind the longer someone uses their abilities on him, warning him. Still, they had a limit and unlike his familiars, who would just pop and die if their mental limit was reached, he would not, and instead be stuck as the mind puppet of whoever was strong enough to get past that protection.

Xavier certainly was strong enough to get past that protection, but his warning should be enough to stop the man's light probes, and as long as he did not do anything too drastic, the man should not resort to extreme measures, which is why he did not feel particularly threatened when the Wolverinegrowled at him, with his iconic yellow costume. NO mask in sight though.

Xavier appeared a little surprised, so did Storm, but the telepath was quick to assure him once they were within hearing distance, "Please be assured, I have not–"

He interrupted the man, "Save it, old man. I know how you found me. It requires you using your telepathic abilities. How did you find me, I wonder. Did you sense her?"

The more he spoke, the clearer the theory became in his mind. He might not be able to read her mind, but he might be able to sense her mind. As far as he could tell, Xavier could sense minds as well and Alcina definitely had one, even if he could not read their minds.

For Surprising Charles Xavier into Silence and raising their suspicions, Silver Ticket X1

He rolled it instantly.

[Share Sense]

Uncommon Ability

Allows you to link your senses with other people and vice versa, allowing you to see the world from their perspective and them from yours. You need to touch the target to activate this ability, and they must be willing. Linking up with too many people may get disorientating.

One Curse Mandatory! Curse Timer: 5:00 Hrs

Ignoring the ominous feature and timer added to the system, he activated Vinelash as his second ability, just in case the chances of him capturing Wolverine with them and draining him of his boundless vitality somehow came true, as Charles rolled to a stop, with Storm and Wolverine standing behind him.

He waited for them to speak as he'd already gotten what he wanted when he ran his mouth early on in their conversation. He knew that anything that went with named characters in the universe had a high chance of manifesting into tickets, even if they were of a lower level. He needed all the tickets he could get right now, and if just sprinkling some meta knowledge was enough to get a Silver Ticket, he couldn't wait to do more shocking stuff.

More Chaos! Muahahaha!

"I see. You seem….informed." Charles said as he stood in front of Charles, arms crossed and feigning a relaxed position with Alcina standing guard behind him. They still had Nightcrawler though, to strike from any angle but he was sure that Charles would try the pacifist angle first.

He nodded, "Yes. I make it my business to know about major players who might develop an unhealthy interest in my life later on."

"Is that why you robbed all those people? Assaulted law enforcement?" Storm interjected here, and wow, the judgement was strong in this one. Well, a couple of weeks ago, he had the same reservation, but she should try being someone with nothing, quite literally nothing, not even a name, and survive handily in a death universe.

It was not like he did not know how close the entire universe came to certain death on a regular basis and how the only thing keeping it running were heroes who won by the skin of their teeth because it was more exciting and engaging that way.

He made a face at her judgement, not needing to fake anything, replying, "I regret what I had to do but whatever I did, I did only to survive."

"And why would you need so much gas? To that point, where is the motorcycle you stole from Mr.Jay? You don't even know his name, do you? He was still making monthly payments on the bike you stole. Do you even–"

"Hey-Whoa-Hey! Let me stop you right there. Yes, I stole that bike. Yes, I regret that I had to do it at the time. No, I will not let you stand there and lecture. Also, for your information, I had plans of reimbursing the guy, plus interest." He passionately defended his choices. After all, if not him, then who? Not Alcina, that's for sure.

"Oh, really?" Her eyebrows rose up, her eyes gaining a brighter white glow to them, as she boomed at him, "What is your plan for doing so?"

Uh. "I, uh, have concepts of a plan." He finished lamely, but then added with renewed vigor, "That's not the point. I did what I had to do at the time but that's not what we are here to discuss. If you wanted to turn me over, you would not have wasted time speaking to me. So, spill, what's your offer?"

"Our offer?" Wolverine spoke for the first time, and goddamn, the mad had a deep, rough voice. It was as if his throat was constantly soaked in beer and hard alcohol to create that voice. It truly took a long term passion to damage an organ of a person who could regenerate from virtually everything.

Hopefully, this version already had the unbreakable skeleton and everything. He couldn't exactly tell without seeing the claws in action, but it would be really awesome to see them in action, not pointed at him, obviously. Then, it would be pants-shitting terrifying.

"Yeah," He nodded, as if he was speaking the obvious, "Your offer. Why have you come here?"

Charles spoke here, "As you so aptly informed us earlier, you are aware of why we are here. Even so, let me say it. We are here to offer you shelter, a place to not just survive, but thrive, to live amongst people of your own kind, to not live in fear of your abilities. We have facilities that can help you train your powers, teachers with decades of experience. Most important of all, we have other mutants of your age. They could be your friends." Or comrades, went unsaid in the passionate speech of the leader of the X-Men.

Also, Charles mentioned Powers. Plural. So, the old geezer got the memo from SHIELD already. Also, he was really good when it came to giving out speeches. Even without any mind control in the play, he could tell that any uninformed, panicked person would totally give in to the good guy vibes Charles had going on.

He supposed that even with the handicap of not using his telepathy, the man had been in so many minds that he was probably the foremost expert on the human mind on the planet without any degree, and could be the best shrink without his mutant ability. After all, decades of experience will do that to you.

Before he could reply, however, he felt a presence in the air, rapidly headed towards their location. He looked into the sky as Charles sighed in resignation with Wolverine and Storm adopting a more tense posture, as if waiting for a fight. Soon, a small dot became visible in the distance with the dot growing, until all that was visible was a blackened eclipse of sorts, smoking slightly, as it slowed down in front of them.

The orb then slowly lowered down, unfurling at the same time as Magneto in all his Nazi traumatized terrorist glory was revealed to him.

For gaining the attention of the Brotherhood of Mutants, Silver Ticket X1

Once again, he rolled it immediately as the freaking Master of Magnetism was floating down in front of him, his small smile making him immediately uncomfortable.

[Venom]

Uncommon Ability

Turns you venomous, you are able to inject your venom into your targets through bite or claws otherwise you can release it from your powers or spray it orally. The potency of the venom is dependent on your physical stats.

Yet another ability. Potentially very useful. Knowing that Vinelash would barely slow anyone here down, he switched that for Venom as rudimentary know-how of the ability was instantly downloaded into his brain. Well, for starters, he finally had a ranged attack now, even if the potency of the oral venom was very low. It should increase with his physical stats so he was just waiting for that physical buff ability that would increase the effectiveness of half of his other abilities.

View Air was invaluable right now since it pretty much gave him a sensory ability that stretched for a kilometre in every direction, as long as there was air around it, so no underground or underwater senses, or sensing stuff inside a vacuum chamber.

He was brought out of his ruminations by the reunion of old friends turned rivals.

"Eric."

"Charles."

Magneto brought with him only two people. Both of them ignored him as they were laser focused on the two people that Charles brought with him. Honestly, it was as if these two were always secretly in contact with each other and coordinated their moves properly.

Just the thought of Charles giving Eric strict instructions on who to bring and how many people to bring as backup, to act as perfect counters for the ones that Charles will bring with him, so that the fight will be entertaining and not instant losses, was so funny and absurd that it made him snort out loud a little bit.

It made everyone save for the two old loverboys, freeze on the spot, in the middle of some kind of trash talk that ended in a fight with no permanent damage on both sides, ready to fight once more on some other day in some other place. Well, Wolverine really didn't count because he couldn't be permanently damaged.

Pyro, because what else could he be called, turned towards him, a flame blooming on top of his hand, "Oh, this funny to you?"

"Leave him out of this!" Storm said, taking a step forward, as if she wanted to stand as a shield between him and the guy who could create fires hot enough to kill him.

"Oh, yeah, what if we don't?" The other guy took this as his cue to show his strength to the world, his hands slamming together to generate a dull boom, as Wolverine stepped forward and– SNIKT!

YES! There it was, those iconic claws. That distinct sound of his gleaming adamantium claws tearing through his skin. Alas, all of it was useless as they were currently in the company of the freaking Master of Magnetism.
