Chapter 191 - Chapter 191: Revealing the Truth

[3rd POV]

"I will. But for now, you must go and tell your wife of the truth. That will be the beginning of your redemption. And while you do that, I wish to tour Winterfell. There are many little crevices of your home that are quite interesting" Lucifer said, as she got to her feet, the man nodding at her words, agreeing to her demands.

"I...I'll tell her. And I'll make sure to tell you once she knows" Ned said, breathing out as Lucifer looked over at him with a small smile forming on her face.

"Good. Make sure to let me know" Lucifer responded with a smile on her face, as she turned and walked out of the room, leaving Ned alone. Ned watched her leave, wondering what had just happened, and why she had come to them.

But he didn't think about it long, before deciding that he had far more important things to think about. And that was how he was going to tell his wife that he was not the father of Jon Snow, but was the uncle of Daemon Targaryen.

That he had been lying to her for several years now, that he had been harboring the heir to the Iron Throne, or at least the rightful one. That he held someone that would bring war to their feet, and Roberts wrath down upon them.

But if he had the Old Gods on his side, or the Old God...maybe he'd be fine.

So, after a few more moments of thought, he got to his feet, a resolute expression on his face as he left, ready to finally confront his wife, and tell her the truth. With the backing of the Old Gods, it should all go his way...hopefully.

"Ned? What is this about?" Catelyn asked, as she sat across from her husband in their bedroom. She had been dragged by her husband into their room. She had been half expecting something a bit more...personal to take place, only for him to sit her down with a serious expression on his face.

Ned grabbed a chair and dragged it over, before sitting across from his wife, a serious glint in his eyes as she looked at him with worry.

"Ned? You are scaring me" Catelyn said, as Ned sighed.

"It is time I tell you the truth, Cat. About Jon's mother, about who he truly is" Ned spoke, as his wife's eyes grew cold, as she stared at him.

"About time" Catelyn muttered to herself, as he heard and bit back a glare.

"Cat, you must stop your hatred of him. You must stop your bigotry and your ignorance. You have to stop" Ned responded as he heard her words.

"Why? Why should I stop? He is a bastard! One that is corrup-" "Because he is not a bastard" Ned calmly cut her off, not raising his voice in fear of anyone else hearing his voice. He was doing this the best he could without alerting anyone else.

He had no idea that Lucifer was actively muting the sounds around them so that nobody would hear the conversation that was going on at the moment. That way they would not need to worry about others finding out about this, about who Jon truly was.

"W-What?" Catelyn sputtered with wide eyes.

"Cat, Jon is not a bastard" Ned responded, as the woman stared at him, her eyes widening in horror. The boy was around the age as Robb, potentially older. And if he was a true born.

"HOW DARE YOU! YOU WOULD TAKE THE BIRTHRIGHT FROM YOUR TRUE SON!? TO GIVE IT TO SOME UPSTART BASTARD! YOU-" "He is not my son!" Ned roared in response, cutting his wife off from her screeching.

The woman stopped when she heard this.

"Wh-What?"

"Cat, Jon is not my son. H-...He is my sisters" Ned whispered, looking down at Catelyn's eyes widened in horror. Realization began to settle in.

"My sister, Lyanna, and Rhaegar had married under the Gods. They had married in both the Old Gods and the New. And through that marriage, they had brought Jon into the world, a true born son that my sister had named...Daemon. His name is not Jon Snow. His name is Daemon Targaryen, and he is the rightful heir to the Iron Throne" Ned calmly spoke, breathing in as Catelyn stared at him in shock and horror.

As she realized that she had not neglected and ostracized a bastard, but the heir to the Iron Throne. That she had been abusing an innocent child. Lucifer knew her thoughts, and couldn't help but be disappointed realizing that the woman was not apologetic for neglecting and bullying an innocent child, but for bullying a child that was true born and the heir to the throne.

She'd be cursing the woman if she did not fix her thought process soon.

"N-Ned how could you keep this from me? From your wife? How could you let me say things like that to the boy! To the hei-" "Cat, I could not tell you exactly for that reason. Because I could not allow for his true heritage to be revealed. If it was ever revealed, if anyone EVER found out, It would mean war! We'd be going against the Lannisters, the Stormlands, the Tyrells, we'd be going against half of Westeros!" Ned cut her off, glaring at his wife, it should have been obvious to her, but it would seem that she was still acting ignorant for some reason.

Catelyn flinched back at the words of her husband, looking down in slight fear. Knowing that her husband was furious, and she had never seen him that furious before. Nothing came even close, no moments, nothing.

"Ned..."

"Cat, I love you, I truly, truly do. But you have to stop this. You must stop looking down on those that were as "Bastards" you must stop this overwhelming adherence to the laws of the Seven. You must stop looking down on others. Because you are NOT of the South anymore, Catelyn. You are of the North, and you will live like it" Ned said, as the woman was about to cut him off, but Ned beat her to it.

"No, Cat. I am putting my foot down. From now on, our children shall live as those in the North should. The septon will be sent back South, the location of prayer that I had built for you will be demolished. We are of the North, and we worship only the Old Gods. And you must understand that. And before you yell, before you fight, just know that you will meet someone later today, at dinner, that will change your worldview..." Ned continued. The woman had rage forming on her face, and was threatening to yell, but one look from her husband stopped her.

She just scowled deeply, got to her feet, and marched out of the room, harshly slamming the door behind her as she left.

Ned watched her go, leaning back in the chair, a sigh echoing from him a moment later.

"Gods I need a drink"

At the same time, Lucifer had been listening the entire time. She found herself a bit disappointed with the actions of the woman, and decided she'd need to grill the truth into her later when they spoke. It was important, afterall.

While she was watching over them, Lucifer was also walking around Winterfell, and more specifically the Godswood, finding that it was quite the beautiful place. She had already copied the trees inside and would be planting them back home. They were beautiful and radiated magic, not a lot of magic, but enough that she could notice it.

But seeing as the conversation between Ned and Catelyn was over with, Lucifer smiled, one thought on her mind.

'Time to eat some dinner with the Starks!'
