All there was, silent, it was pretty peaceful for a split second, with the purple head still eating, even with the troubling news.
Josh cleared his throat for a second.
"Right, okay, how's she?"
With Smith still sitting.
"It seems like 162 Bpm, that seems pretty high."
As the leader pulled a radio from his waist, with some clicks of buttons and made patterns.
The sound at the end of the radio is nothing but the screeching sounds of heaven's doors opening for the screaming souls of forty people. Even if frequency and sound are not fully translated through the radio, its psychological effect was transmitted all around the whole cafeteria, ringing all around, Lite eyes shuffles and his nerve shocks slightly throughout one's body. Josh, unbothered, still standing with the radio, his eyebrow raised slightly.
"Hm, wow, that's loud, hey bestiary girl, do you know what that is?"
With the purple hair slightly looking up, her eyes open, it was shining like a hundred stars. It glowed with internal blues as she slowly opened her mouth.
"It's lavender, Athena. It's creature entity 233, or just Blazers; it's one of the monsters we find on sector C-1-T. It's one of those big molten things with multiple legs, that of spiders, with multiple mouths, the one that disbanded Company 8th division. You remember?"
As he slowly looks at the air, nodding.
" Oh, you mean when one of the leaders cried while getting screwed by two of them? I think their group got in too deep and should have stayed a little closer. "
I don't know what they're saying, but the way he describes it so calmly, don't tell me I have to explain what I've been through like that? Entity 233, what are we fighting, animals? Multiple mouths, spider-like? And big, how big?
As with Smith standing eminently after some time.
" Joshua, we've been talking for more than twenty seconds."
With Josh looking him in the eyes.
" Right, show the cadets their armoury, I'll talk about the plan on coms."
With him smiling slightly, with his body that builds to kill, that smile does not mix well with how he feels around. As time flows, the building suddenly bursts into flames with red colours flashing, with the blaring light going through.
As Josh then spoke one last time.
"Oh, it seems like we're the next target, huh, very unlucky."
Running through the corridors as it blinks red, with this girl following Smith and me, it seems to be the direction of our rooms. I never saw any sign named armoury or any symbol of guns or anything.
As he comes close to their rooms, opening it with a master key and follows him. The windows were wide open, as the wind was blowing around. With him standing in the middle of the room, it was loud yet calm, the doors were soundproof very well, and then he looked at both of us.
"Right, you both", with him cleaning his throat a bit.
"Go under your beds, the equipment is there at all times, take it out when you need to or just want to, you can wear your gears because why not, but the equipment is up to you to clean, so, happy birthday. You're lucky we aren't strict. "
Huh, I usually kept my weapon close to my bed as well, usually hanging it on the walls by the gun straps. Well, at least I don't have to hold that gun all the time. I wonder what I will get.
As Lite walks towards his bed, as looking under, with smith then shouts slightly.
"We'll meet at the main gates. Meet me there, Estelle; her codename is Misha; she's your senior, Lite, so follow her order. She has the radio; if anything happens. Report to her. The insignia of yours is in there, wear it with pride." With him swiftly open the doors, as he closed the door quickly but without a loud bang, just a silent twist as it echoes throughout the rooms.
It's quiet again. I can barely hear the siren. Is it internally?
As then, her name, estelle, wow, I never asked her name, misha, huh, it kinda weird me out how there's girls here, you rarely find them, it's either drone operator or those who runs those social media, I never play those nor I care, but it sounds interesting, to tell the world that you are still alive and sending videos, It's sounds like it breaks a lot of Opsec, but I don't mind at this point.
As I rummaged under the bed, there was a case that I pulled out. A box, it was black and heavily armoured with another one, a long green case, it seemed to be one storing some sort of long rifle,
These are quite heavy. I wonder if they take my bank's money before providing this. I wonder which government I work for. US? European? One thing is for sure, even if they used familiar gears I know, the structure feels very off.
Opening the green case, the inside was foam of light brown, with seven magazines; it was fully loaded, as the centre seemed to be a Kalashnikov. Oh, it seems to be the modernised one of the AK-74, AK-12, right? I forgot, it seems to be modded heavily, with grip, sights, a magnifier, a white suppressor at the end and a laser with flashlight, though the laser doesn't seem to work, I can't see it.
As he looked about, a voice could be heard. It was her mumbling on, before she spoke a word that Lite could hear.
"What's you're experiences in combat?"
Lite looks back to see the full skin's views of her as the clothes are folded properly beside her bed, with him hastily looking back to his case.
"Well, I don't know myself, in fact, I kinda forgot what happened. That's why I am here, a person in a white suitcase, white hair and yellow eyes. He says he has the cure for this brain fog or something like that, but I have to work for him, I guess."
A silence for tens of seconds, as she raised her voice. Timid and quiet
"I've been working with them; they're called the colonial 7th, a part of the security division of the colonial groups. They said they come here to expand or something. I don't know in-depth why they're here, you're from the other worlds, yes?"
The sound of zips can be heard behind his ears.
"I've been working with you guys for like… five months now. And yet I still don't feel at home."
As her mouth moves, breathing tightens before he asks her.
"Why are you here? As for me, I'm probably just going to follow orders and just listen till they give me the cure or whatever it is. Or I'll die…Usually, your heart stops for a second when you say that, but I don't have it anymore?"
A silence was passed between you two.
Taking the rifle, which has a strap to it, opening the case of the black box, its inside is filled with black foam all around, as with the inside, it seems to be a VKPO white kit. Do I wear it in layers with my uniform? It's a little different from what I'm wearing; it's thicker. I guess this is a battle uniform, as with Inside, a Kevlar vest, but it looks more modern. Is this one that people talk about? If I remember correctly, it's called Strelok or something, it's an armour system those wannabe special forces, crazy or rear soldiers would want to wear, not like everyone had it, but it's there. It's fully kitted, so I'll just need to wear this. How on earth am I supposed to wear this?
Looking inside the box. A helmet, it's white camo style with added goggles, it's quad, aren't these extremely expensive? If I sell this on the black market, I can make a huge amount. It also comes with a shiny-looking goggle and a mask, a gas mask? Maybe it's easier to breathe in this snowy hell.
With him standing up and quickly strapping his gear at speed, a voice can be heard from the door.
"As though, are you ready?"
Looking to the door, that girl, who seems to be wearing a modded plate, like those special force, the plate that protects your chest and some lower stomach area with a kevlar under it to protect the groin a little, she looks more like a magician, but she's not wearing the mask that I have and the clothing remind me of a trenches coat or an officer uniform. And her uniform goddamn glows, it's bright blue trimmed, what the hell, and damn, she is fast.
"Right, give me a minute!"
I already put on this uniform, two layers, that should work; I don't like the cold.
Seriously, did I really forget how to wear this, or am I never used to this gear?
Without notice, a light pressure was noticed behind him while trying to get the vest in; it was her hand tapping behind him.
With her speaking, "You don't know how to wear KBS Strelok? I could help you rig it to your chest."
Pardon, she's way faster than me. Where is she from, but either way, I should get some help when needed.
"Yeah, right, I never tried out this or maybe I forgot, I would like some help."
As with her hand trying to tie the chest rig, it reminds me of my younger time, where my mom told me to zip her dress from behind, but seriously, you can't reach that? Sounds like a flaw in the design. Imagine if some random person decides to prank you and unzip it, unsettling.
With her strapping me, it evenly envelops the chest with adequate pressure. Even in the thick layer of clothes armour, it's much lighter than it looks, very light, maybe the padding uses something lighter besides ceramic, such as Lite.
"Right, thank you. I'll learn how to equip it faster."
As she nods slightly, a radio com opens
"Hello there, get ready, if you are playing dress up, make it faster."
A helmet with quads, buckling the straps to the helmet and standing up, with both of them running out of the room, locked the door knobs, running once again through the bright red hallways.
With the gear, the helmet felt extremely bulky, with the weight of the plate carrier being quite gruesome. With it having some sort of air tank on the side, I feel like I'm not fit like I used to. It's fine, just deal with it mikhail.
Walking towards the doors and outside, passing behind Misha, there was snow raining from the sky, which was nothing but an empty abyss, with the cement pathway seeming pretty clear for what it's worth. Can this uniform even help me this winter? I know much about winter, but this is not winter, this is a frozen wasteland in some random place with the absolutely strangest people I've seen, which says quite a lot…
As we stepped outside behind Misha toward the gate, I saw an armoured vehicle parked nearby. White paint, stained and worn. Who even funds us? It looked like a Tigr, but with extra wheels for the snow and a huge cannon on the turret. I was pretty sure Tigrs weren't meant for this kind of region.n.
As with the backdoor open, which seems to be someone in a white gear, same as me.
With them both entering the vehicle backseat in front of the gate, as Misha sits on the right side, with Lite and the other soldier closing the two big doors, as the snow rains suddenly become quiet, as the gun pod is empty, so the lid roof lid is replaced with a computer, with two empty seats, sitting on the left beside the person. The body of the seat was not plastic or any metal, but fabric that feels warm on the inside, the interior smells like a windy lavender field, usually these types of vehicles stink with headache odours, the gun seat is empty, with it being replaced by a robotic machine on top of the tiger.
As with it, a shout was heard from the driver's seat. It was Josh
"Get ready, recruit, we are about to go off-road. It's not far. Your first silly mission. So get ready"
As the vehicle moves, the man from the left side speaks, it sounds like a speaker on his mask.
His voice is in a young tone, looking at his patch that reads 05-7, as the man slides his goggles under his cheeks, which reveals purple eyes.
"So, not trying to invade your personal space, as now that White Fox is gone, that redhead, ironic that he is called White Fox, yet he looks nothing white, but then again, people get random names here without reason, like how do you get your name, Lite? You sound a bit eastern,"
Head, empty for a split second, as Lite shallowly nods.
" Well, yeah, I don't know why they decided to call me Lite, nor can I recall much; all I know is that some man in a suit with yellow eyes came to me, and I felt like I was dealing with the devil right there. How do you get in this squad?"
With a phone on the front of his plate carrier, the case looks heavy and sturdy, and then a sound pops from the Lite headset, as a voice reaches the ears clearly.
"There, now it's easier to talk to, anyways, this is proxy mode, everyone can hear what i'm saying clearly, I put you two in my group, so smith actually can't hear us right now, well unless he want to join in the group, which he has admin to, but right, oh right, you also have the phone as well, it's on your plate same as me, don't underestimate how sturdy that case is."
Oh, that's what this is about, I thought it was a mini medkit or adrenaline, nice to know.
As a sigh can be heard from the headset
"Also, Smith wanted to say, sorry for the cafeteria, bad faith really, there has to be a way to make people happy."
The Soldier, looking at Estellee, slightly moved her head up before dropping it to the floor once more. She was quiet and observant.
"Well For me, uhh, I don't really know where to start, let's just say that I was a recruit in Europe, I was apart of a infantry training, y'know to become someone cool and all that, but let's just say that unforeseeable circumstance, there was some group of those elvian, we call those with pointy ears elvian or elves, because of those mythos or things, like her"
He slightly pointed to Misha with her eyes closed and looking down.
"I don't know what goal they had in mind, but they attack the training center, I fought one of the person by taking a rifle on one of the dead guard and having a shootout with them, before they vanish, all of the sudden there's soldier around me, they ominous, I don't remember much after that accident, smith told me that those unit of the SEU, basically earth internal security, they seems to have some sort of cognito hazard that make people forget, one thing for sure was I was send to this place. My face looks a little brighter, as my hair colour changes, and I have glowy eyes. They told me that I will be working in this world from now on. It's been four months, and Ind always wonder how to get back. They tell me that once they can break through the snow valley, they will release me or something. I kinda like it here, everyone is different, and I can talk to many of you guys."
As he cleared his throat.
"Back then, people talk about being in another world, there's always a story about that inside bookstore all around, my favorite place In my opinion, usually the story goes that people got transferred into a new world, I found it fascinating, but the story is always have the same plot, adventure the unknown, in our circumstance, it's not far from that story, it's just less glamorous, like we don't really have swords, and people who do live around this region, rarely contact other community, so we really don't know what's going on outside, the world is ours y'know?"
I heard that story before, it's was extremely popular in the western world and Asia, I don't like that story as it always deviates from any form of truthfulness. In this world, people who are powered with magic are special, cheat code, a powered fantasy, I hate the Idea that a commoner can become something special with little or no effort around their piers, but it's interesting, as the world was cool, dragon and queen, quest and the unknown, people read it to escape reality, if what he's saying and that we might be in a different place is. Interesting.
As the vehicle for the short ride comes to a stop, Smith looks behind the three.
"Sleepover is over, Misha and Lite get to the entrance of the cave, and Zealot, you take the gun. "
As the zealot pulled his goggle back on, the darkness enveloped him,
"Good luck, recruit, recruit. Now go with her; she is of a higher rank than you. She's a specialist, while you are a private Alpha. You can read the hierarchy at the diner, but not now, so good luck there."
As Lite opens the door, with it wide open, the wind drives inside the aroma out to the death abyss, as Lite slightly touches the shoulder of Misha, as she suddenly looks up, as then some sound can be heard from Lite's headset, as a voice appears.
"Sup, this is Smith, Lite and Misha. Go to the cave entrance and follow my command. Use your phone or switch on your headset to switch the signal group. Good luck."
As Misha and Lite hopped off the snow piles, surrounding what seems to be a dead forest, with all the trees without leaves, as the wind blows, all around.
Misha on coms.
"Lite, wear your goggle, let's go"
As Lite pulled the squad goggles, the area is now colours that of thermals, but also some ui, on the side of the screens seems to be a name, the signal group, which has rows of names. As they walk through the snow on the left beside the roads, a small mountain cliff has stone pillars all around, with the entrance not that of a small cave, but a giant gate through which the dark seeps through beyond the gates, and all around them are pillars up high.
As Lite went through the ancient structure.
"Lite, c'mon, stop looking around and let's go."
As Lite looked forward, with Misha now a little further away.
"Right, let's go"
As Lite checks his rifle, cocking it slightly to see the shell inside, which slightly glows.
This place is quite big; it is a cave or a gate to an ancient city. Whatever this is, dying or being lost here will not be a good idea.
Now walking on the stone pathways, walking towards the abyss that eats light that entered, is something I never planned to begin with…
