Chapter 4 - Chapter 04 :  The Awakening in the Kingdom of Ice

In a barren land a desert stripped of every trace of life save for golden sands and a merciless sun the body of Abdul Karim Ibn Ahmad lay abandoned beneath the sky.

Above him, vultures circled.

Patient.

Hungry.

Their sharp eyes watched the corpse below, waiting for the stillness of death to remain certain. Then, one by one, they descended like arrows loosed from heaven, eager for a feast freely given by fate.

But before their claws could touch him, a shield of steel appeared out of nothingness.

It rose above his body like a silent guardian.

The birds struck it again and again, screeching with fury, their wings beating the hot air in violent rage.

Then A golden spark burst from the shield.

A flash so fierce it blinded any eye that dared witness it.

The vultures screamed only once before fire consumed them, reducing flesh and feather alike to black ash scattered upon the wind, dark as a moonless night.

Then came a sound.

Thin.

Strange.

Like a whistle carried through reeds.

A voice that seemed to come from everywhere and nowhere at once.

As the mysterious murmurs echoed through the desert, Abdul Karim stirred.

His fingers twitched.

His chest rose sharply.

Slowly, painfully, he opened his eyes.

Ash covered his body.

Around him lay the charred remains of birds still smoldering in the sand.

He tried to rise, but agony tore through his limbs like knives.

"Who... who's there?" he gasped. "What are these voices?"

"You are safe now, Abdul Karim," said the unseen speaker. "You have been saved."

"Saved?" he said, dazed. "Who are you? Where am I?"

"We are the Guardians of the Desert. We protect it from scavengers, destroyers, and all who seek corruption. You stand in a place reached only by fate."

"But why am I here?" he asked, fear creeping into his voice. "What happened to me?"

"There is much you do not yet know, Abdul Karim. Your mission has not ended. In truth... it has only begun."

At that moment, a glowing portal opened before him.

Its light spilled across the sands like liquid dawn.

Beyond it stretched another world green fields, flowing rivers, trees bending in a gentle breeze.

"Follow the light," said the voice. "There you will find your answers."

Abdul Karim clenched his jaw.

"I will," he said. "Whatever the cost, I will know the truth."

And with that, he stepped through the portal, leaving the dead desert behind.

When he emerged, the warmth of the other world was gone.

He stood instead upon frozen ground.

A vast kingdom of snow and ice stretched endlessly before him.

The earth was wrapped in white brilliance, dazzling beneath the sun. Mountains towered like sleeping giants clad in crystal armor. Ancient pine trees stood silent and still, their branches glazed in frost like sculpted glass.

Far in the distance rose castles of ice.

Enormous.

Radiant.

They glittered like jewels beneath the daylight.

High towers pierced the sky, and domes of frozen glass shimmered with pale fire. Icicles hung from archways like chandeliers in a royal palace.

Abdul Karim stared in disbelief.

"What is this place?" he whispered. "Am I dreaming?"

As he approached the nearest castle, he saw a giant figure standing before its gate.

A guard.

Massive as a stone wall.

He wore armor forged entirely of ice, and from beneath his helm shone two eyes glowing with cold blue light.

Abdul Karim swallowed hard.

"Peace be upon you," he said carefully. "I am Abdul Karim. How did I come here... and what is this place?"

The guard's voice rolled like thunder beneath a glacier.

"Welcome, Abdul Karim. You have crossed the portal into the Kingdom of Ice, where time stands still and cold dwells within hearts."

"The Kingdom of Ice?" Abdul Karim said. "But why have I been brought here?"

"Because you were chosen."

The words struck harder than the wind.

"You carry a task yet unfinished. These castles hold secrets buried long before your birth, and you must uncover them."

Abdul Karim straightened despite the freezing air.

"I will do what must be done. But I need guidance. Where do I begin?"

The giant raised one armored hand and pointed toward the grandest castle of them all—a towering fortress crowned with silver frost.

"Begin there. In the largest castle waits the Sage who may guide you."

The guard's eyes narrowed.

"But know this: the road is filled with danger, and ancient powers do not welcome strangers."

Abdul Karim's face hardened.

"I do not fear trials. I will go there myself."

For the first time, the guard smiled.

"Good. Courage is the first key."

Slowly, the frozen gates groaned open.

Beyond them lay roads of ice, towers of mystery, and a destiny no mortal could yet imagine.

And so Abdul Karim entered the Kingdom of Ice, where every step carried him deeper into the unknown.
