Honestly, hearing it come out of her mouth so directly felt absurd for a second. My brain genuinely paused trying to process it, mostly because of how casually she said it. There wasn't even any hesitation behind her words either. She looked completely serious.
Still… when I thought about it properly, I guess I had been putting off my relationship with Zes for a while now. Same thing with some of the other women around me too.
Ella was probably the best example.
Without someone pushing her forward, I honestly doubted anything would've happened between us. She was unbelievably shy. The type who would overthink herself into silence before she could even say what she wanted. If Charlotte hadn't stepped in and practically shoved her toward me, things probably would've taken forever to move anywhere.
