[Japan, District: Kyoto - Main IDS Station]
[Sunday, 9:40 AM]
Jan did not stop talking for the entire two-hour transfer.
Not in an annoying way, which was somehow worse. He talked about the exam and about Bazz's crisis and about whether Louise had actually been studying or just sitting near books, and every eleven minutes or so his hand went to his coat where the hilt was, and he'd go quiet for a second, and then start again on something else.
He was nervous. He was doing the thing people do when they're nervous and have decided not to be.
"—and honestly the diagram section was unfair, they never said there'd be cross-sections—"
"Jan."
"What?"
"You've asked me twice if he's going to say no."
"...I have not."
"You've asked me twice."
Jan shut up for about four seconds.
"Is he going to say no?"
haah...
I'd spent most of Saturday night deciding whether to bring the sword.
It sounds like a stupid thing to agonise over. It isn't.
