Chapter 122 - Chapter 116

664 10/11 14:03 (Autumn, Night, Midrar)

In the middle of a forest path, a light illuminated four figure moving through the foliage.

The origin point of this light was an orb floating above a black-haired maiden, held afloot within her Aura and alimented by the Human's Vital Mana, the Fusion of Energies in a greater whole by following Luna's example.

A continuous way to train her Light-Attribute Sorcery, her Aura and to actually master the creation of Vital Mana.

Following behind her were her three Mates, Mafel releasing small masses of Curse-Attribute Vital Mana in the form of small purple crows that flew all around them, searching for any disturbance in the area while their master was growing accustomed to the feeling of her Mates' Aura.

Around them, a golden breeze was softly blowing, distorting their sounds and smells both while gently helping her Mates deal with the stress of continuous Skill usage.

Similarly, Luna was currently testing out the four strings of flames created by the Effect of her Ash as an Artifact, the warm expanding and contracting starting from the back of her neck, playfully moving them around the other three, functioning as both shield and to help them become more efficient at dealing with distractions.

All the while, Sabel's Unique Skill was constantly irradiating from her body and lacing the light floating above her head, functioning as an additional disruption upon the other three.

"You still are unable to recognize when exactly your Rebellion is active, aren't you?" Luna commented, the air around her sparkling slightly, trying to fight back against the waves of Anti-Skill that constantly raining down upon the other three, disrupting their effort.

As shown by the ribbons being shredded apart before reforming, Mafel's birds almost falling into pieces entirely multiple times and Amber's golden wind weakening if not for the Phoenix forcefully boosting its effects by spending more Energy.

Sabel flinched, her eyes opening wide and looking around herself again to confirm this fact, the waves of power spiking violently in intensity together with her reaction, almost unraveling her Mates' Spells entirely if not for Luna's Will flaring and supporting their efforts.

"You really should start taking better control of that Skill." She casually commented, causing the black-eyed one to flinch in embarassment, her Unique Skill responding to her unstable emotions by intensifying the Skill negation aspect.

"Well, and how should I do that?!" Sabel exploded, full of flustered rage, her reaction only serving to further amuse her two more sadistic Mates.

Amber, the gentler one of the three, soon intervened. "Sabel, try to see the memories of how I use my own Unique Skill, it may help you control it better." She proposed, causing the red-faced young woman to start concentrating hard on the Phoenix, progressively calming down her unstable emotions and starting to analyze the blonde's memories freely offered by the latter.

As Sabel fell bonelessly, she was immediately caught by the Lunarian, causing the latter to sigh. "You really trust way too much." She breathed out, holding her Mate in her arms, the light and her Aura vanishing into nothing at the same time she became unconscious. "And you are really too impulsive."

"But these are also some of the reasons she is so cute, aren't they?" Mafel commented amusedly, her eyes glinting in the dark that fell upon the forest, patch of trees that were rapidly lit up by Amber's golden flames.

"True enough." Luna affirmed back, adjusting her hold over her Mates before stepping forward, each of her steps securely directed in the wrong way.

Fortunately Mafel immediately recognized she was moving the wrong way, grabbing the shorter one by the arm, pulling her in the right direction. "The capital of Midrar is this way, Luna." The former-Monster sighed, her pointed ears twitching a couple of times. "Let's go meet Sabel's parents without getting lost on the way." She said aloud, giving Luna no opportunity to stray from their path.

Led by Mafel the three advanced, the light of the Moon above offered little guidance to the three through the thick foliage.

Not that they needed it.

Between Lunarian's natural ability to see in the dark, Amber's Innate Skill Heat Sight and Mafel's own Innate Skill Soul Gaze, the only one out of the four needing light to see where she would go was Sabel and she was not walking under her own power.

Said Human was stuck in a cycle of falling unconscious, reviewing the memories shared with her by Amber, waking back up, becoming embarassed of her position in Luna's arms, trying to reproduce the way the blonde was using her Unique Skill, failing and repeat this again, trying to find out what exactly was the difference between the two.

Luna meanwhile was incredibly slowly letting out her Astral Ichor, filling the air around them with a thin mist that would function as an additional security measure.

In this way time passed until the end of the day.

*Luna gains 1.000 + 193 + 193 + 193 Magicules.

As the sun was slowly rising in the horizon, tinging everything a soft gold, Luna made a pleasant discovery.

Not only did her Unique Arma's Magicules gaining Effect applied first, but each of her other Growth Skills were applied in order, one after another while considering the changes derived by the previous ones.

Sabel woke up once more, yawning deeply, her eyes squinting at the light falling upon her lids, the sleep she fell into after repeatedly doing her best to control her Unique Skill, being disturbed by the rays of sunlight. "Wha-where ?" She asked, her mind still fogged by sleep, small tears in the eyes that looked all around herself in confusion, trying to figure out where exactly they were.

"Don't worry, we are still on the right way." Amber reassured gently, her Revered Winds helping the Human wake up and accelerate her regaining full awareness, including her position held in Luna's very firm hands.

Sabel's face immediately went red, struggling to escape from the Lunarian's arms, the red-eyed one watched her in amusement, tightening her hold on the Human. "Struggling is useless, you may as well give up and just let her have her fill." Mafel teased, her purple eyes gleaming, causing the black-haired one to whine.

Luna, seeing her reactions and feeling her emotions, merely smiled, a pair of long, tentacle-like limbs of Astral Ichor manifesting around the two and grabbing more firmly onto the Human, immobilizing her completely. "No! Let me go!" Sabel half-yelled, her eyes shaking.

Yet the only conseguence of her outburst was Luna pulling her up to herself, leaving a kiss on her lips that shut her up, the very-distracted swordswoman being left still with wide eyes, overwhelmed entirely.

Luna, enjoying her three Mates' feelings, merely continued walking behind her other two Mates. "Feeling your emotions is quite interesting." She commented amusedly, refering not only to Sabel's but also to Amber's and Mafel's.

"Yeah, I suppose for someone with a Soul so young, the more intense an emotion is, the more interesting they are." Mafel nodded, her pratical knowledge when it comes to the Soul the greatest because of the combination of her natural affinity for being a Medium, the ability to directly see Souls with her Soul Sight and her previous self as a spectral Monster.

"What do you mean?" Amber asked, the only one of the three currently fully functional People that would actually ask for her meaning directly instead of just viewing the Records for the answer later.

"Skills, excluding Unique ones, are patterns of Energy imposed on one's Soul, exchanging power and abilities for a Burden imposed on the Soul itself. Upon someone's death, excluding those cases where the Soul or the Cycle of Reincarnation is interfered with, those patterns and their memories are washed away by the Sea of Souls and turned into Energy for the creation of new Souls." The grey-haired one explained, breathing in deeply before continuing, giving Sabel enough time to pull herself together.

"However while Skills are relatively easy to take for the Sea of Souls, the acquisition of memories in itself leaves a faded scar on the Soul. As lives pass, those scars cover more and more. Yet this is not a negative factor as the presence of more lives cause a more stable subconscious thanks to the additional perspectives.

"Similarly, while newly-generated Souls are generally more impulsive and emotives, having only their own points of view, they are often malleable and normally tend to reincarnate into short-lived species. Luna however not only reincarnated less than four times but is incredibly impersonal when it comes to her personality. She has neither the plasticity of a New Soul nor the broad-mindedness typical of Old Souls."

"And what does that mean? There are plenty of Humans that are neither of the two, aren't there?" Sabel interfered immediately, remembering various individuals she met as both an Adventurer and the child of a Guild Master.

"Not only in Humans. There are a lot of People like that." Amber nodded, her eyes burning with curiosity.

"You two are right. On its own, this means absolutely nothing. I myself count as both a New and Old Soul when you try to categorize me using either the number of previous lives or my nature as a Boss Monster that merged with an Elf. But in her case, specifically, I would say that in her first life, she lived through the entirety of the more unstable period of a Soul as a creature that had little if any emotions."

"I see." Luna nodded calmly, feeling little and starting to idly try and figure out more about herself. "And I suppose that the fact I was born with a Unique Skill is natural in that situation. My Singularity is interwined too deeply with my Soul to be put back to sleep by the Sea of Souls. When you say little emotions, you mean what exactly?"

"A Golem would be my guess." The Medium nodded, her hair moving with the breeze that was starting to pick up through the brown leaves.

Luna simply nodded, casually trying to see if this new knowledge would spark anything in her but finding no ripples of emotions within her.

"And I suppose the fact I find your emotions fascinating is because you feel differently from me from the baseline. I guess that our Mate Mark helps me in feeling more strongly." She nodded satisfied, causing a silent sense of incongruity in all four of the individuals listening, both in her Mates and the spying Aurora.
