When Adam saw Midgar's poleaxe, he assumed his opponent would switch to aggressive close-quarters combat. He imagined that Midgar's poleaxe and his needle would clash again and again, shaking the ground, but in reality, Midgar's true strength lay elsewhere.
"So you're not planning to win on your own?" Adam asked, looking at Midgar, who was hovering off to the side.
Midgar frowned.
"What do you mean? You're using your Operator's power! That demon is my power, and no one else's!"
Adam was silent for a moment before nodding deeply.
"You're right, but her power is my power. And, unlike you, I don't force her to fight in my place. I'll be the one to defeat you, your demon, and any other creature you decide to summon to your aid."
Midgar narrowed his eyes, but didn't continue their pointless argument. To him, it made no difference how he won. What mattered most was the fact of victory itself.
Tap.
Midgar tapped the air with his poleaxe, summoning the gray flows.
