I want to explain why chapters haven't been going up lately.
The story is undergoing a major rewrite. I'm essentially rebuilding it from the ground up, reworking a significant portion to better match the direction I want this fic to take. I haven't forgotten about it and I haven't abandoned it. I'm still actively writing. What's changing is the trajectory of where things end up in the modern-day timeline, along with a lot more backstory woven in.
The new chapters are being posted on my Patreon, where you can read them for free. With a few exceptions, most of them run around 3,000 words or more.
Once the rework reaches the point I'm aiming for, my plan is to take down the existing chapters and replace them with the new versions.
