The deskmate was a young lady who looked particularly clever. She asked Scarlett Glenn, "Your father's surname is Young, but your surname is Glenn? I know, he's not your real father, right?"
Scarlett Glenn tightened the strap of her schoolbag, "He's my father."

The deskmate chuckled, "A stepfather isn't a real father. He's good to you now, but that might not be the case in the future. When your mum and your stepfather have their own child, they won't want you; they'll only love their own child."
