"Where's Austin?" Adam Sinclair frowned, glancing toward the entrance, noticing no one had followed her in.
Renee Anderson pulled out a chair and sat next to him. She asked the bartender for a cocktail, took a sip, and said, "Austin got a call from home and went back first."
Adam wasn't naive and didn't believe her. He picked up his phone, pulled out some cash from his wallet, and placed it on the table. "Since he went back, I'm leaving too."
He showed no hesitation and was ready to leave!
Renee's face turned pale. She bit her lip and grabbed his arm, "Adam, you can't possibly not guess why Austin left. He left first because he was too embarrassed to ask you for help. His family is in some trouble, and he's asked all his friends, but no one wanted to get involved, so he contacted you as a last resort."
