The man who had been avoiding her gaze finally raised his head belatedly, looking in the direction where the black sedan had departed, as if he could see her figure through the car's windows.
It wasn't until the sedan completely disappeared from the dock that he slowly withdrew his gaze, eyes lowered, pondering something unknown.
"Let's go," Eric Candi took out a pair of sunglasses and put them on, saying to Philip Shaw, "I'll take you to my place, okay?"
Philip Shaw's face showed little emotion, appearing indifferent and aloof. He responded with a faint "Okay" and then said nothing more.
Eric Candi wasn't much of a talker either. After giving him the address, he led Philip Shaw to the street, hailed a cab, and the two of them sat silently, one in front of the other.

The place Eric Candi took him to was a three-story seaside house.
London is a world-famous coastal city, and this was obviously a remote fishing village. It took five hours by car from the pier to get here.
