Chapter 148 - 148

Zarmina came out of her confusion and called Lariel through telepathy for help.

The King appeared and looked at the guy with a puzzled look, who stared at the newcomer in wild amazement.

"And you don't remember me?" He asked warily.

"Who are you?"

"Lariel, your adoptive father and mentor!"

He asked Zarmina to leave them.

"Someone erased your memory while you were in a coma. I'm sorry that they did this to you, because I warned you - don't make enemies!"

Gedeon could not understand what was happening and confusedly looked at the fabulous appearance of Lariel, who sat down next to him.

"But why? How and who did I interfere with?"

"You were very stubborn and did not listen to the instructions of the Rulers."

"What? I do not understand anything. What kind of world is this that I live in? For some reason I have wings. This is too much! I need to wake up!"

Lariel raised his eyebrows in surprise.

"Wow! Your memory has been ruined! All the events of your current life have been erased and you are left with only life experience according to human concepts. It turns out that this is your first life among the syrinxes, since the wings amaze you so much. But you were born this way fifteen years ago, your father, our fellow tribesman, was in love with a married mortal woman and seduced her with charms. I found you in the forest more than a year ago, alone and abandoned. Your wingless sister lived among people and rarely saw you, and your parents died, and you asked to adopt you, now you live like a royal son."

"Are you the King?"

"Yes, I am the Ruler of the city of Ornalion. My guardianship means that I am a substitute father for you, and you must obey me until you become an adult."

"Am I not an adult?"

"Not enough! When you're three hundred years old, then I'll leave you alone," the King laughed.

"What? It's a joke?"

"What jokes? Syrinxes are immortal! Final maturation occurs at the age of three hundred years. Let's go for a walk around my property, you'll hardly remember anything, but you'll get reacquainted with your usual surroundings."

Gedeon looked at the decoration of the palace as if for the first time, leaving his room. He recognized nothing: neither the house, nor the yard, nor the city. Everything was unfamiliar and stunning. The guy was embarrassed that the winged residents walking along the streets greeted him, calling him by name, like an old friend.

"They know me, but I don't remember them," Gedeon concluded sadly, looking at his patron.

"Lamori is awake!" - One girl suddenly exclaimed joyfully, mischievously looking back at the young man and winking, but noticing some gestures from Lariel in her direction, she spread her wings and flew away.

"Who did she say that about?" Gedeon was puzzled, looking around fussily.

"About you! You slept for so long that the girls missed you, so they are happy."

"And what does that mean, Lamori?"

"Magic title. Everyone falls in love with you at first sight. You are my adopted son, which means my powers are passed on to you as an heir."

"What?" Gedeon widened his eyes in horror. "I am a magician?"

He stopped and looked at his hands in amazement. Transparent fiery sparks flowed lightly from his fingertips.

"The magic of sparkling creation did not come from me," - Lariel chuckled.

"I have another similar gift - the invisible flame of creation."

"And how to use it?"

"It's enough to imagine something, and it will instantly appear. It is wonderful that your gifts remain with you."

Gedeon thought about a fireball, and the sparks that rained down from his hands immediately curled into a small plasma sphere blazing between his palms.

"Ow! Be careful, my boy! This is the rarest gift - an incinerating weapon! Where did you get it from? How did you become a Yary?"

"What does Yary mean?"

"Warrior-firerun! You have too many gifts beyond your age."

Lariel quickly extinguished the flaming object with a slight movement of his hand and edifyingly said:

"Such a fire can burn your wings instantly! There is no need to indulge in such energy. Control your thoughts so as not to harm anyone. One must bear responsibility for such power, therefore young creatures are not

supposed to possess it, but only mature syrinxes."

Gedeon said in confusion, recovering from the trick he had performed:

"Immortality and magic! This is some kind of fairy tale! I have feeling that I used to be an ordinary person."

"And also unearthly beauty and sweet love. I hope this makes you happy," - Lariel added mockingly.

"Was I unhappy?" Gedeon was puzzled.

"You fell into a coma of your own free will, which means something really upset you."

"Do you guess what?"

Lariel looked expressively at the young man.

"I won't tell you, I don't want any new problems with you. Our Lords are powerful, and you are always under their surveillance. They considered memory loss necessary for you. Just live and be happy with what you have and don't cross their path."

"Tell me at least the reason why I was punished like that?"

"You fell in love with the wrong girl, so to speak," the King replied, smiling softly. "She's one of us, but you're unlikely to see her again, and if you meet her by chance, you won't recognize her, since she lives in another city and is married."

"Who is Zarmina? Was she courting me?"

"Yes! She is a princess, in love with you, like all the girls you look at. Don't be shy about their attention, reciprocate according to your nature."

"Does everyone fall in love with you too? What is it like to live with this and with this appearance?"
