She really despised this little kid.
She wished this annoying child would disappear from her sight immediately.
So before Edward Cooper could finish speaking, Annie Lawrence agreed at once, putting on a facade of understanding, "As long as Lucus is happy, it doesn't matter whether he's with me or Mr. Rushbrook."
"This doesn't have to be set in stone, does it? It can be changed, right?"
Edward Cooper hesitated for a moment, then nodded, "Yes, it can be changed."
"Then let Lucus stay with Mr. Rushbrook. I can understand," Despite being incredibly upset, Annie Lawrence wanted to salvage her image and so she held back her anger and put on an act of kindness.
She gently said, "Besides, I worry about whether I can take good care of Lucus. Mr. Rushbrook has done a decent job in taking care of him before."
Edward Cooper looked at her a few more times.
