I turned. "Yes, Minister?"
"Thank you. For everything."
I smiled. "It's my duty, Sir."
He nodded weakly, his eyes already growing heavy with exhaustion. "No. It's more than duty. It's compassion. I've seen many doctors in my years. Most of them do their job. But you... you care. I can see it in your eyes. You carry the weight of every patient you treat."
I didn't know what to say. His words struck something deep inside me. I had spent so long trying to be strong, trying to hold everything together, that I had forgotten what it felt like to be seen.
"Rest now, Minister," I said softly. "You need your strength."
