Chapter 8: Breaking the World Wide Open

[****]

Alex POV

Location: abandoned subway base, Musutafu, Japan.

Date: May 4, 2214

Time: 1:00 a.m.

It had been a couple of days, and I had to say Twice's quirk was even more useful than I initially gave it credit for.

While he mainly used it to copy people, he could also make objects as well. And with my intellect, I could draw up some schematics and have Twice read up on them, and I was able to get some decent tech down here that will increase my productivity as well as get me ready for the operation I was about to undergo.

Of course I wasn't going to depend on these things as they were extremely fragile, so I had to reinforce the stuff with my quirk so it wouldn't break under strain.

Anyway, that was how I found myself laying back on a futuristic medical bed with several mechanical hands above me.

Looking to the side, I saw a clone of myself standing in front of a console, typing away at what I assumed were the final touches on the virus.

The surgery would take a week to finish, but in the end, I would have Twice's quirk. We were going to use synthetic virology to induce a type of gene therapy that would induce Twice's quirk into my own DNA.

"Alex, I'm administering the anesthesia now." My clone said as he pressed a button on the console, and a gas mask came out of the bed before securing itself to my face. I then felt the gas begin to enter my system, and I felt my body begin to shut down.

When I opened my eyes, I found myself standing on a buildings rooftop. It wasn't special in any way. But that wasn't what captured my attention, as the wind softly blew my hair I looked up at the innumerable amount of stars that streaked across the half an orange and half black purple sky. It was as if the world was frozen in this single moment with only the stars continuing to move forward.

Walking over to the balcony I was able to see the cityscape down below. It was magnificent, white, pristine in all it's glory.

"Hehe, so this is me. I really am childish holding onto this dream even after so many years." I couldn't help but be amused but none the less this place brought me peace. "So this is a mental world, huh? Pretty beautiful, all things considered. I guess I'll have to wait until the quirk is implanted so I can interact with a vestige for myself and gain some good data for something as vague as a mental world."

The next couple of days, I spent time thoroughly analyzing this realm. For one, each 'star' was my talents, and abilities. I could 'reach' up pick up them out of the sky to see what they were as well as placing them back to continue on their journey.

And second was that I was confined to this building's rooftop and if I tried to leave I was meet by an invisible barrier that kept me here.

With nothing to do I simply leaned against the balcony bars and stared at the night sky in the distance.

And in no time at all seven days passed in my inner world. On the rooftop the vestige of Jin appeared.

Walking up to Jin I placed my hand on his chest and used the same thing I did with the 'stars' shirnking him down into a mote of light.

I then raised my arm up fully and 'placed' the vestige of Jin up in they sky. He too turned into a shooting star streaking across the sky.

As I stared at the gray shooting star I continued to wait for myself to wake up.

And I didn't have to wait long, as despite not being tired, my vision grew dark, and I found myself opening my eyes to the familiar station ceiling. Sitting up, I turned to the console, where my clone gave me a nod before breaking his arm with a grunt, causing his body to start breaking down into the mud of Twice's quirk.

Standing up out of the bed I turned toward Toga and Twice, who looked at me in concern. At least I think Twice was, as he was still wearing his mask.

"Hey Twice, can you give me some tips on how you use your quirk? I want to be able to use this quirk as proficiently as you do."

"Got it, boss, man; I'll train you up good." Twice said excitedly with a thumbs up.

What's up with him? He wasn't nearly this excited when I talked to him about getting his quirk. What happened in the past week for him to change so much?

"Thanks Twice; I'll be counting on you." I said with a smile.

"Alright, let's get this started." I said with a smile as I raised my hand and began using the double quirk.

It took four days of training from Jin, but I was able to use the quirk with only minor hiccups due to activating my own quirk instead of the new one. But it became easier as I continued training, and in no time at all, I was confident in my plan.

The quirk was extremely overpowered in the hands of Twice and Toga, as they were able to make thousands of clones, but in my hands, this quirk was much more dangerous.

All that is needed to create a clone of something is knowledge of the precise measurements and physical features of the person or object I want to replicate.

So what would happen if someone who had watched anime and could now calculate their features down to the smallest hair gained this quirk?

"Anyway, Alex-kun, I wanted to ask for a while now, but why are you wearing a dress, makeup, and even hair extensions?" Toga asked in confusion, though there was a light giggling undertone to it.

I couldn't help but grip my teeth as I fixed my dress. "Like I said, I needed to dress like this to deceive the person I am going to create with double." I said before concentrating on using double.

Race: human, gender: male, age: 20, hair: dark blonde, eye color: black, height: 5'9". Other features: Blue Pegasus symbol on left shoulder.

The familiar, dark-colored, viscous fluid came out of my hand, forming a pile of the liquid that was growing bigger. Stepping back, I stood beside Toga and watched as the mud took shape, turning into the man I wanted. He had the same features I described in his creation, as well as wearing a dark, double-breasted suit with a pair of distinctive light lines circling each sleeve and lower leg, a pinstripe blue shirt, closed around the neck by a darker tie, and polished dark dress shoes.

His eyes immediately landed on both Toga and me. He put on a confident smile as he walked up to us, running his hand through his hair.

"Well, hello ladies, how are you doing today?" He said while flashing a smile at us.

"Ah! You're Hibiki Lates, right? The great mage of Blue Pegasus, right?" I said while using a feminine voice and forcing myself to blush. "It's a pleasure to meet you!"

"Oh, you know of me." Hibiki said before releasing a slight chuckle. "Of course you do. And what may the two beautiful flowers before me be called?"

"This is my friend Toga Himiko and I, Alexia Chaser. We're really big fans. We saw you in the "What Wizard Would You Like To Be Your Boyfriend?" magazine."

"I see, I see, then you have goooood." His speech began to slur before he began rocking on his feet before falling forward, allowing me to catch him.

"Good job Twice." I said with a thumbs up toward him as he held a tranquilizer gun. "With this guy, we can finally put my plans into full swing."

With magic in my pocket, I should be able to get around several restrictions that technology alone would give me.

"Now come on, Toga, help me strap this guy to the medical bed.

"Aye, Alex-kun." Toga said as she crouched down and grabbed Hibiki's legs. "I was this close to cutting him up, by the way."

"And I'm glad you didn't, good girl." I said, reaching over and patting her on the head slightly before grabbing Hibiki under his arms so we could carry him over to the medical bed where my operation was, where we then strapped him down.

"So anyway, who is this guy anyway? You said some really weird stuff." Toga asked once he was secured.

Damnit really didn't want to have to answer this stuff until I took over the world. But I guess now is a good time.

"Come with me; I'll explain why I have these goals. You as well, since we're family."

For the next several minutes, I explained why I was doing what I was doing while also omitting or outright changing stuff to suit my needs.

"So you're telling me you were chosen by a God to fight against a bunch of people who will kill us in seconds, and you're trying to make the world submit so you can bring it together and survive." Twice asked with a deep voice. "That's so cool!/Are you out of your mind? We're gonna die!"

"We won't die Twice; I won't allow it. This is my home, no matter how flawed it is. I won't let a bunch of bastards take what I consider mine." I said before smiling softly at the two.

"So who is that guy? He must have been really important if you dressed up like a girl to make him drop his guard."

"His name is Hibiki Lates, like I said, and he is a magic user from another world using specifically archive magic that allows him to transfer information into magical data. I want to use him to study magic to see if we can use it ourselves and see the magic data in action so I can reverse engineer it."

"Really, magic? I know you wouldn't lie to us, but still, that sounds way too far-fetched, Alex-kun." Toga said with a skeptical expression.

"How can you say that with the stuff we can do on a daily basis?" I said with narrowed eyes before I released a sigh. "Well, you'll see soon anyway, so just wait as I prove that magic is real."

"Anyway, you two can head out. I'm going to start studying that guy in earnest." I said before excitedly making my way out of the train car back to the strapped Hibiki.

Standing in front of the console, I started turning on the systems one by one until they were all online. Looking over, I saw the hands beginning to work either, scanning, cutting, and taking samples—all being done in seconds.

Alright, Hibiki Lates, show me the fruits of your labor so I can use them for myself.
