Chapter 540 - Chapter 540: Horror Scenario

Elsewhere, as the light came down and scattered across the lands, Bathory would make her quick approach, both to check on her son if he survived, as well as an opening into the castle so she can prepare her flood once more into its inner workings to weaken anyone who remained inside. Her parental heart ached once she saw such a light, a drifting thought in her mind at the damages he had to sustain to face off against the Summoner. It wasn't until she'd saw a moving figure across the dust and debris that drifted the same, a shout escaping from the dark clouds. "GET OUTTA HERE!! THEY'RE WAY STRONGER THAN BEFORE!!!"

"Son??" Perplexed, the Mom was shocked he was able to survive the attack.

"I had to scatter my straw to mitigate as much damage as I can. That guy nearly KILLED US!! I'm pretty sure he survived it too, but we need to go. Now!"

"Mawkin?! Are you insane? Why would we back out-" Her question came to a screeching halt as a figure appeared behind her, attempting to stab through her chest and rip out her heart. Immediately slashing down, she watched as the rotting corpse parted, allowing another to attack through the wound and land a heavy punch to her chest, digging deep enough to pierce her through the building, but not enough to hit her vitals. Once she got back her consciousness, she can see the previous zombie begin to reattach himself, as a few more begin to swarm in. Mawkin would attempt to intervene, but another force was quick on taking him out, a chop to his shoulder, knocking him asleep, before pushing him off the roof side and left to wallow in the mess of blood left behind. "Mawkin? MAWKIN!?" She'd scream, hearing that hard thud behind her. The Zombies, however, did not let her have a chance to breathe, swarming through the gaping hole and attempting to rip her apart.

A grab into one undead and tearing off its head, the spine left intact, using it like a mace to smack a few more, letting the blood spray and solidify around the skull, jagged spikes made to pierce and blast off other parts of the body where it hits. Swift, efficient, and with no further stains left on her clothes, she'd step out and climbed up to the roof to see the commotion. There, the person responsible would lay ahead, with three more Zombies on his side, firing down with arrows and cannons, as Bathory was quick in spinning her mace like a fan, letting the blood spray and create a barrier to block the former, before kicking it forward and use it as a platform to leap over and be launched by the explosion in the latter. Seeing the undead not letting up, she'd allow herself to bite into her flesh, dropping down such droplets, letting them fall like daggers to pierce through the next set of arrows and slash at their arms, lobbing it off to prevent further projectiles from hitting her. "So the style IS true. You can use your blood as a makeshift weapon! I was wondering what was going on with that previous report. Decapitating a whole Goetia's not an easy feat. This'll be a great roadblock for me to test on!" The man shouted, cracking his knuckles as he began to approach, the undead's groans and moans bellowing as they began to ascend and surround the two.

"Ji-Mon Shoka, I'd assume? Our own reports came regarding an artifact stolen from Oaking and used as warfare weaponry for this particular style..." Disdain echoed heavily in her voice, as her focus was to ensure her son was safe, her gaze even shifting to where he last was seen, rather than the opponent in front of her.

"You WERE spying on us! A little birdie told me one of your men was keeping an eye out on us to ensure we get jumped on! Khonum, think was his name..."

"I take it the messenger was the Sniper?"

"Actually, it was someone else entirely! I'd rather keep her name anonymous. I don't think you'd be too kind in knowing a rat's in your function."

The woman laughed softly as she'd began to drench her blood across the umbrella, allowing it to mingle with the wine stained around. "Believe me, a rat with such modicum would not be worth any trouble. Besides... I believe she's already taken care of. With the monsoon left behind and my Final Gambit, I doubt anyone's still alive after such mass death."

"Is that right? Seems like you wasted a lot of your energy then."

"Please... I've barely gotten started." Her words were coupled by a dash ahead, spinning the umbrella, keeping it closed so it can act like a drill to try and pierce through the army of corpses before her. Ji-Mon would leap over, using such dead to act as footstools to walk across and evade her attack entirely, letting the ripped organs, tendons, and flesh surround and bite down into the Vampiress. Bathory, meanwhile, would open her umbrella and let it spread out like a wave, pushing the bodies back, granting her just enough of an opening to scale up much the same. "By the time I'm done with you, I shall take my son back home and give him his proper rest. He's been through enough as it is, no thanks to you and your kind."

"Says the lady who drowned Calibren like God to his Flood." A taunt as he'd let the bodies reassemble themselves, letting it morph around and become an amalgamation of flesh, a mass of arms and mouths that began to rise and contort, a living tumor of decrepit skin that dared to engulf around the Countess with no self-preservation. The Countess could only watch and weave as it came down, the blob desperate to swallow her over and crush her underneath its weight and squeeze her down to her very bones. "You may be a Rank 5, but I got something you don't have: Experience! I have already lost a fight before, and I learned through that fault. Every loss will inevitably become a victory, it's a pendulum that swings for and against my favor. Since it swung against me last time..."

"You're not going to make it. I already won. The pendulum swings my way now!"
