Chapter 19 - CHAPTER 19: CROSS PATH

CHAPTER 19: CROSS PATH

Willow's POV

I left there feeling overwhelmed by all what he said. He was right after all. I'm not a police. I shouldn't meddle with there business. After all, I'm just a burden to their investigation.

I returned to my house feeling dejected and tired. My injury sting after I sat on the couch immediately. I completely forgot about after what happened. I wondered if they managed to catch Mr. Raven.

"Argh! I shouldn't think about it. Just like what Eliott said, I shouldn't meddle in their work," I lay myself in the backrest and spread my arms looking at the ceiling.

"Well, in matter of fact, the ghost showed up and lead me there. And I didn't know the police was investigating it. So, how did it became my fault?," I rant to my self hysterically.

"I should just sleep," I sighed and began to prepare myself to rest.

Two days passed and I was wandering around the mall, although my thigh still hurts it doesn't matter. Being at the house bores me to death so, I rather go out than stay back there.

"Scar?," I was looking for some clothes then suddenly someone called my name.

I didn't expect to see who it was. Her face shimmer with surprise and confusion and then turned serious. "I see, you're back after no contact or visits," voice cold and neutral.

I smiled bitterly on her tone. What do I expect, I left them without a warning or saying anything. I disappeared without contacting any of them and suddenly appearing again.

"Bri... You're here," I said.

She looked at me disdainfully before turning her back. "Come with me. We need to talk," she side eye me. It was clear with her tone, it's an order not a request.

I followed her until we reach the parking. She turned to me and slapped me. I was shocked how fast it happened and the sting brought me back. I looked at her smiling sadly.

"I kinda deserved that, didn't I?," I said. She then cried at start hitting my shoulders weakly.

"What the hell is wrong with you?! You left without telling us nor contacting us and now you're back without us knowing again!! Are we really your friends?! Because that's not how a friend should treat each other!," she sobbed and finally cried it all out in my shoulders.

"I'm sorry, I have no way of contacting anyone. Also I, was shocked with the sudden leaving and I didn't know why we need to. All I know was that, Mom was desperate to leave and confiscating all my stuff to communicate others. I'm really sorry," I hugged her and comforted her. I was trying to suppress myself to cry. I don't want to cry but I missed them. Really missed them.

A few minutes past until we separated, she calmed herself and fix her face. "Why didn't you try to contact us? Do you know how worried we are after you disappeared? We thought something bad happened to you to the point we thought you died. We even went to your house and got to know you and your mom left the same night. Do you know how furious we are after learning that?,"

"I'm truly sorry, I promise I really tried to contact you but mom keep me on guard. She keep went on panic everytime I touch the phone. She keep asking me who am I going to call or who is calling. She completely paranoid, even going out was hard. She was following me or sent someone to follow me and demand to know who I talked or met. She can even see who I contacted," I explained.

"Wow, that's a complete house arrest," she joked.

"Way worser than that,"

"But why is Auntie acting like that? Did something happened?,"

"I don't know either. Everytime I asked her she will just avoid answering it,"

"Then, how did you come back?,"

I suddenly smiled awkwardly before answering. "She told me to stop being a burden and find a job. So, I told her I got a job in overseas but didn't tell her I was going back here. I actually don't have a job here, well I'm planning to look for one,"

She looked at me so done, "You lied to Aunt?!,"

"Well, if I don't do that she will just keep locking me up. And, I don't want to stay there so I take the finding the job an opportunity to come here," I answered nervously.

"Seriously, don't you get it. Your Mom is running away from someone here and you actually dare to come back just because you don't want to stay there. You're turning to a rebel," she clarified.

I didn't think about that. Mom was running from someone? But who? Who can make Mom panic like that to the point she went paranoid?

"Scar.." Bri called. "When are you going to meet the others? They are actually so worried. Some of them went on a complete change of attitude,"

"I don't know, maybe sooner when I'm ready to face them. I was actually lucky that you are the first one I met. See, your punches didn't even hurt a bit or said harsh things to me. In our group, you're the most rational one," I teased.

I saw her expression change before taking off one of her shoes. I immediately run when I saw that and she throws it on me. "You brat!! How dare you call me weak?!! I'll show you what I'm capable of!," she yelled.

"I don't think it will actually hurt besides didn't you heard that I said you're the most rational!!," I laughed at her. She was starting to chase me and take off her other shoe before throwing it on me again. I wished I can be like this again with the others.
