There was a probing tone to Nathan Fawcett's words.
But upon hearing them, Anne Sutton's face flushed red with anger.
To her, his words were a downright insult.
"I'm not that kind of person! Nathan Fawcett, don't be so conceited! If you hadn't died, I would have moved on with someone else years ago! It's just that whenever I think of Ian, I feel like I've let you down. I feel so resentful and ashamed! Do you really think no one else would have me? If I wanted to, I could get married to someone else at any time."
She couldn't believe that her choice not to find someone new would make him mistakenly think she couldn't live without him!
'He's so full of himself!'
Seeing her vehement denial, Nathan Fawcett figured he had probably overthought it. "You're right," he said. "Forget I said anything."
Anne Sutton was so furious with him that she started chopping on the cutting board with excessive force.
