Anne Sutton flinched. She opened her eyes to feel Nathan Fawcett kissing her.
His body had always been this cold. It was just that before, her mind had been so consumed by hatred for Charles Prescott that she forced herself to endure it, even when she was scared.

Because of what happened with Stella Shields, she'd grown resentful. She felt he was no different from Charles Prescott.
This resistance made her unwilling to be intimate with him anymore.

Anne Sutton coughed twice, scrambled out of bed, and pushed Nathan Fawcett away. She rushed straight into the bathroom and started to vomit.
After a while, Nathan Fawcett came in and asked, "What's wrong?"
Anne Sutton heaved for a long time before rinsing her mouth. She looked at Nathan Fawcett and said, "My appetite hasn't been great these past two days. It must be morning sickness."
She lied, refusing to admit his touch was the real reason.
