"Afraid?" Charles Prescott sat down, repeating Anne's words as he looked at her. "What am I afraid of?"
"You're afraid that I'll really get together with Nathan Fawcett and have his child, and that your position as his heir will be at risk."
Hearing this, Charles Prescott laughed. "Your belly isn't even showing yet, and you already dare to make threats to my face! Anne Sutton, you can't beat me! One day, I'll make you come crawling to me, begging for my forgiveness. You'll tell me you were wrong, that you never should have married Nathan Fawcett. Just you wait."
If any other woman had proposed leaving him, Charles Prescott wouldn't have tried to stop her. He wouldn't have even been angry; he would have given them a generous compensation package.
But so far, he had always been the one to initiate the breakups. No one else ever did.
