Mr. Brandon proved his determination through his actions.
Arriving at the spot where the wild Regirock had departed, he immediately sent out his own Regi Trio: Regirock, Regice, and Registeel.
It was Terrance's first time seeing Regice and Registeel in person, and he couldn't help but observe them carefully.
Together with Regirock, that made three Legendary Pokémon. Mr. Brandon certainly had excellent taste!
"When the three of them exist together, the Lock-On move they use jointly is far stronger than the perception of Psychic-type Pokémon," Mr. Brandon explained after noticing Terrance's confusion.
Moments later, Regirock, Regice, and Registeel gathered around the place where the wild Regirock had left and began locking onto its position through the route it had taken.
As three legendary Eternal Pokémon, a complex yet close connection existed among them. Once the Lock-On was activated, brown, blue, and silver light radiated respectively from Regirock, Regice, and Registeel. In Terrance's view, the lights quickly merged together and traced their way deep underground.
After a while, Mr. Brandon took out a palm-sized device that resembled a detector and began scanning for the energy fluctuations of the three Pokémon.
"This is…"
As the fluctuations displayed by the detector kept changing, Mr. Brandon frowned.
"What's wrong?" Terrance asked.
"It locked onto the location where Regirock disappeared, but its own fluctuations have suddenly been cut off. A very strange reaction."
"Has anything similar happened before?"
"No. This detector was specially made to lock onto Regirock. This is the first time we've tried it," Mr. Brandon said, showing a puzzled expression.
After thinking for a moment, he sent out a Shedinja and had it sink into the ground.
However, it wasn't long before the Shedinja returned, looking rather dejected.
Recalling Shedinja, Brandon concluded:
"But one thing is certain, Regirock has entered the Mirage Tower. Otherwise, there's no reason we would completely lose track of it. It seems this detector still needs to be improved."
"Mr. Brandon, is it possible that Mirage Tower has already disappeared from this space-time?" Terrance asked, recalling the existence of Unown.
"It has already been confirmed that Unown have a habit of inhabiting space-time rifts. Perhaps they possess the ability to hide Mirage Tower in a place similar to the 'subspace' that Ghost-type Pokémon enter," Terrance speculated.
"Subspace, huh?" Brandon glanced at the detector in his hand and said, "Thank you. That's indeed a new line of thought. Perhaps installing a device capable of sensing spatial fluctuations into this detector could lead to new discoveries. But since we missed this chance, who knows when we'll see Regirock again."
Although they failed to locate Mirage Tower, and both Mr. Brandon and Terrance felt regret, they didn't show it.
Terrance was clearly still very concerned about that experience with the space-time rift.
…
Meanwhile.
Since they gained no further results and had also clarified the origin of the rock Tyranitar had eaten, Brandon and Terrance did not stay long and returned to the Battle Pyramid.
Terrance was also invited by Brandon as a guest. He did not refuse Mr. Brandon's invitation, because there happened to be something he wanted to inform him about.
"You want to enter the Super-ancient Pyramid?" Mr. Brandon looked at him with surprise.
"What is the Super-ancient pyramid?!!"
After entering the Battle Pyramid facility, the four adventurers who had come here as guests earlier also heard Terrance's request. Since it wasn't something that needed to be kept secret, Terrance found an opportunity and said it directly.
"Are you sure you want to go to that place?" Mr. Brandon asked seriously.
"Yes. As you know, I'm currently challenging the Champion League and still need more training. After thinking it over, in the Hoenn region, only that place suits me best."
As the number of criminal gangs around Hoenn had decreased, Terrance's plan to gain experience through real combat had been temporarily delayed. However, after meeting Mr. Brandon this time, it reminded him of an interesting place.
Getting into that place might be somewhat troublesome, but once inside, it had a very strong tempering effect on a Trainer.
"With your strength, entering there wouldn't be dangerous," Brandon pondered for a moment. "However, you still need to go through the normal procedures."
"Excuse me… what exactly is the Super-ancient Pyramid?" The four adventurers showed puzzled expressions. It was the first time they had heard this term. They knew about the Battle Pyramid—the aircraft they were currently standing on—but what was the Super-ancient Pyramid?
"That's a relic of a Super-ancient civilization," Terrance explained with a smile, not expecting that these adventurers had never heard of it.
"That's right. The Battle Pyramid we're riding now was built based on it," Brandon said.
As the number one figure in the exploration world, the powerful Mr. Brandon had conquered countless ruins, forbidden zones, and dangerous locations.
Among them, the Super-ancient Pyramid was fully explored for the first time by Mr. Brandon.
Perhaps others had entered it before him, but very few had come out alive.
"You should be familiar with the five danger ratings from D to S level for Lost Regions, right?" Mr. Brandon said to the four adventurers.
Terrance had only learned about the danger rating system for wilderness areas when he was being evaluated as a Gym Leader candidate. What surprised him was that although these four adventurers had never heard of the Super-ancient Pyramid, they were very familiar with this rating system.
"The Super-ancient Pyramid is located on a solitary island and occupies more than 90% of the island's area. But that's not the main point—the key is that it's extremely tall, with a total of 21 floors. Except for the 21st floor, every level is inhabited by many battle-capable Pokémon. These 20 levels where Pokémon live each have different environments and climates. Isn't that fascinating? It has now been confirmed that this pyramid is a product left behind by a Super-ancient civilization."
The environments inside the Super-ancient Pyramid were not something that could be explained by the current system of knowledge.
For example, on the first floor, the Pokémon that lived there all had moves capable of inflicting paralysis status on enemies.
On the second floor, the Pokémon there all possessed moves that could inflict poison status.
On the third floor, burn…
On the seventh floor, freezing…
On the twelfth floor, four types of weather coexisted…
On the sixteenth floor, a paradise for Ghost-types…
On the eighteenth floor, the Valley of Dragons…
Each floor was different, making the Super-ancient Pyramid a place where danger and mysteries coexisted. Very few people had ever managed to reach the top.
"The discoverer and conqueror of this pyramid is Mr. Brandon," Terrance said.
