Chapter 146 - Crime Syndicate 1

They would often be driven by their addiction, leading to all kinds of dangerous and irrational behaviours.

They were like moths drawn to a flame.

They would chase that high they would get, regardless of the cost and damage that would come from it.

Even if they were able to rid themselves of that addiction, it would still be very likely that they would suffer from the damage that had already been caused.

The relationships and trust they once had would have been damaged beyond repair.

They would likely be left with far less than what they once had, as their belongings would have likely been left damaged or taken away due to the actions they would have taken to chase that high.

Their life options would be reduced as they would have burned many bridges and lost opportunities that could have had a positive influence on improving their quality of life.

It was just as possible that their mental and physical health would be left damaged after it was over, while others would not be so lucky to survive and get through it by overcoming the addiction.

The woman was in a state where she was still stuck on a destructive path due to her addiction.

She was being tormented by it and was unable to think of anything but getting what her body desired.

Her state continued to deteriorate further the more time that passed without what she craved so much.

Her rational thought lessened the more she worsened like that.

It was not long before she was a complete, cowering mess of a person who was sobbing and planting her face on the cold and wet ground, begging to be given even a little taste of it. "I will do anything... anything..."

Just when she was reaching her limit, she was offered what she wanted, and a chance was given to her.

The man placed a tiny amount on his pinky finger after wetting it and dipping it inside the small packet.

He moved to shove his pinky finger that had been lightly dipped in the contents of the small packet into her mouth forcefully.

It was rubbed over her gums and teeth quickly before he took his pinky finger back out, as he shook it before wiping it onto his clothing. "Urgh... how annoying. You wanted a taste, so I gave it to you. If you want the rest of this packet... start speaking."

The woman seemed to have gone into a more tranquil state, as if she was experiencing something euphoric.

Her overall demeanour changed in a short time as she began giggling. "They were wearing masks. Hehe... One seemed like a spring. The other seemed to be like a Whoopee Cushion. The other one had multiple eyes on its body.

The spring guy was a male who seemed older... hehe. The Whoopee Cushion guy was young, probably in his teens or a young adult. Ha... The one with the eyes was a girl. I could not figure out her actual age from her voice, but I would say that she would be in her teens."

She started answering the questions in the same manner.

Sometimes she went off track as if she had lost focus, so new questions were asked for things to get back on track.

She was asked about how she first encountered them, so she answered honestly that it was her first time meeting them and that they had jumped in to stop the seizure of herself and her property.

She went on to explain how things happened so suddenly that she could only go along with what had taken place.

She did not know whether the vigilantes would harm her, so she just went along with whoever held the most power in that situation.

She explained how they had taken her back to her home and had begun occupying it while dragging in the thugs who had been subdued.

Those people were taken into a more secure part of her home, where she could only imagine that they were being interrogated or something else, from what she had heard from outside the door.

After confessing to the following events up to her decision to call her contact when nobody was watching her, she was finally able to be given what she so desperately craved.

She was so desperate to grab the packet and to bring it closer that she did not pay attention to anything else around her.

She was completely oblivious to the look in the eyes of the man who towered above her.

He looked down on her as if she were dirt.

All the values that she had no longer existed.

Her usefulness had been used up, so he was already calculating what kind of cruel fate would await her.

It was not the kind of look someone would have toward another living person.

It was more like they were looking at a bug or something of such low significance that they could only look down upon it and feel completely disconnected from it.

There was no effort being made to understand the other party, as if such feelings were not something that needed to be considered in the face of what value or gains could be obtained through that person's suffering.
