Chapter 5 - STINKY

"Argghh"

My ears and my head hurts.

It was so painful that I feel like my eardrums was about to explode. All she remember was the---

"Wait"

While she was covering her ear she was glancing around the room she's unfamiliar with. A beautiful room that has coated with gold, an old fashion lamp? and —

She immediately covered her nose forgetting about her ears.

"THIS PLACE STINKS!"

She was surprised on how smooth her face was, and she began to observe her hands.. This isn't her hand it someone else's hand.

Did we succeeded on our mission? Are there really an alternate universe? another dimension? There's only one way to find out. I should blend in first and find a way to report this. But how? The spaceship exploded and obviously we die, there's no way that I survive that explosion! So if I'm dead? How am I suppose to report this?

I need to build a machine but before that.. I need to do something about this place, I can't concentrate with all these smell!

*THUD

"T-the T-he lady", a servant was stuttering while walking backwards and the ran off.

"huh? What was that all about?"

Her ears still aching but she was curious about the place she's in right now? So she attempted to stood up but to her surprise, it seems like her feet just gave in.

*THUD

"Ouch! these legs are totally useless."

While sitting in the floor, she was faced by the window. It was already evening and she lean to her side to have a closer look outside. She was curious if this planet has 7 moons or what.

"Huh? it's pretty normal. The sky, the stars it's still the same in Earth"

While collecting her thoughts, she heard a loud scream.

"—BY! MY BABY!"

A woman rushed to her and hugged her so tight.

She smell like a wardrobe.

She was hugging her so tight and she can't take it anymore.

"I-I can't breath"

She exclaimed, but wait.

She knew in her mind that she was about to say it in English but why is it that when she talked it was another language-

"Test"

"Comm check"

She was in a full confusion. She's not even sure if this universe uses English as their language, or was it automatically translated into their language. In fact, she wasn't even sure anymore if she's speaking English or not.

"Oh! So sorry honey, I just missed you so much. I thought we lost you."

The woman released her tight hug, gripped her shoulders and brushed her hair.

"Mother is so worried about you."

The woman continues

So, this woman is my mother.

She continued to examine the woman standing before her. Her complexion was pale and flawless, softened by a delicate flush that tinted her cheeks rose-pink. Time seemed to have spared her entirely; no wrinkles lined her smooth skin. Framed by dark lashes, her large brown eyes shone with an unusual clarity, gentle yet perceptive, as though they could see far more than they revealed.

If she is really my mother, she aged like a fine wine. I totally knew where my looks came from.

But there's a lingering problem that can't be erased.

It's the SMELL!

"M-mother?"

She paused. She doesn't know if she can trust her mother in front of her, but she has to ask her about the woman she possessed right now.

"What's my name and how old am I?"

Her mother, cupped her face gently looking at her with longing.

"I need to tell you something."

It felt like she was having a small reunion with her mother. Soon, a lot of elegant snacks and drinks arrived. The food was unlike anything she had ever tasted—delicacies she could never have afforded during her life on Earth. Or perhaps she could have, but she had been far too focused on her dream of becoming an astronaut to care about such luxuries.

Her life had revolved around training, research, and missions. Most of her travels could have been traced on a year-end feature of google map timeline as a simple line between home and headquarters, with the occasional trip to another training facility or research center. While others spent their time exploring new cities and cultures, she spent hers studying orbital mechanics, survival protocols, spacecraft systems, and the countless disciplines required of an astronaut. Every decision she made had been directed toward a single goal: reaching the stars.

A small pang of regret settled in her chest. She had spent so much of her life chasing a dream that she had never truly learned how to live beyond it.

Now that she was here, she wondered if anyone back on Earth even knew what had become of her.

Yes, NASA was undoubtedly searching for answers, but she doubted they would ever find them. With Earth's current technology? There was no way that she could think of for them to locate her.

She wasn't even certain whether she could still consider herself alive in the conventional sense. She had crossed a boundary no human was ever meant to cross, arriving in a place that should have been impossible.

Yet dwelling on such questions would change nothing.

She had achieved the dream she had pursued her entire life. She had reached the stars, but at what cost?

Now, her goal was simple: survive, wherever she was, and finally learn how to embrace everything she had overlooked during her years on Earth.

Because why not? I think I belong to a very decent family. Something I could not ever achieve not unless I marry a rich man.

While her mother was discussing, she was also enjoying the food and nodding every single time.

I should do something about the smell. It's distracting me!
