Chapter 48 - Chapter 46: The Great Migration (Part Final)

The ink on the new administrative scrolls dried rapidly in the crisp, cold air of the Central Military Chamber.

Outside the granite walls of Kiyosu Castle, the rhythmic thump of carpenters securing the outer watchtowers mingled with the distant shouts of drill instructors organizing the newly reorganized ashigaru blocks.

The physical relocation was done; now, the structural reality of Oda Nobunaga's state had to be codified.

Subaru Ryu stood before the massive, three-tiered map table.

Across his vision, the blue system interface surged with an unprecedented volume of data, finalizing the synchronization of the clan's entire military apparatus.

[SYSTEM ADMINISTRATIVE INTERFACE: FINALIZING CORPS RESTRUCTURE]

NEW MILITARY Seat: KIYOSU CASTLE (Imperial Center)

LOGISTICAL THRESHOLD: CORE COMPLIANCE 98.4%

ADMINISTRATIVE ENGINE: SUBARU RYU (INT: 91 / POL: 89)

TOTAL MOBILIZATION FORCE: 14,200 Active Spears / 1,200 Matchlocks

"The elder retainers have stopped sending petitions, Lord Subaru," Kinoshita Tokichirō reported, stepping into the room with a stack of newly sealed grain tallies.

His face was smudged with soot, but his 95 INT eyes danced with triumph.

"When they saw Sakuma Nobumori bleed at the crossroads while their own estates were protected by our vanguard, their political legs were cut out from under them.

They are no longer lords of the soil; they are servants of the ledger."

"A servant with an army is still a threat, Tokichirō," Subaru replied calmly, his hand sweeping across the table to activate the global projection.

"That is why we are not merely moving their households.

We are pinning them to the earth, assigning every blade to a specific coordinate, and defining the exact hierarchy of the New Oda Army."

The door opened with a sharp click, and Oda Nobunaga strode into the room, his black wool cloak trailing behind him like the wings of a predatory bird.

Behind him walked Lady Kichō, her fingers resting lightly on the hilt of a small dagger tucked into her silk sash.

"Is the ledger ready, Ryu?" Nobunaga asked, his voice low and cutting.

"I want to see the names of the men who will hold the borders when the world catches fire."

Subaru bowed and tapped the central pillar of the map table.

The blue light flared, projecting the absolute military registry of the Oda Clan across the room, dividing the province into logical defensive zones and assigning the ranks of the entire officer corps.

Nobunaga walked slowly around the table, his eyes lingering on the deployment of the three Maeda spears and the placement of Sakuma Nobumori at Nagoya.

"You have left Nagoya thin, Ryu," Nobunaga observed, his finger tapping the token of Nagoya Castle.

"Three thousand five hundred men against a potential wave of twenty thousand from the East.

If Yoshimoto moves his main force, Nagoya will be swallowed in a day."

"Nagoya is no longer a city to be defended to the last man, My Lord," Subaru explained, zooming in on the topographical grid.

"It is an active breakwater.

By placing Sakuma Nobumori there, we ensure that any advance by the Matsudaira vanguard or the Imagawa scouts will be ground down by his defensive traits.

Nobumori will not try to win a heroic victory; he will conduct a fighting retreat toward Kiyosu, bleeding the enemy's momentum for every ri they advance."

Subaru then pointed to the north, where Maeda Toshiie's token glowed with a steady green light at Inuyama Castle.

"While Nobumori stalls the East, Maeda Toshiie holds the absolute chokepoint at Inuyama.

He blocks any opportunism from your brother-in-law, Saito Yoshitatsu, should the internal coup in Mino boil over.

Toshiie is disciplined; he will not break his lines for glory.

And right beside him, at Moriyama Castle, we have unleashed Keijirō."

Kichō let out a soft, dangerous laugh.

"Moriyama is a mountain nest.

If Keiji sits there with fifteen hundred horsemen, he can drop down onto the flank of any army besieging Nagoya or marching toward Kiyosu like a falcon hitting a hare."

"Exactly," Subaru confirmed.

"We have separated our forces by function, not by political lineage.

The old guard is isolated at Suemori under Hayashi Hidesada, completely cut off from the Tsushima and Atsuta trade revenues.

They have troops, but they have no coin to recruit more, and their supply lines are entirely managed by Tokichirō's administrative offices here in Kiyosu."

Nobunaga stood at the edge of the dais, looking down at the digital map that filled the darkened room.

The sheer logical symmetry of the deployment was something no traditional daimyō could have conceived.

It completely ignored the old customs of placing family elders in the richest castles, substituting political favoritism with cold, lethal utility.

[SYSTEM STABILITY METRICS LOCK]

ARMY RESTRUCTURE SUCCESS: +45% Tactical Responsiveness

FACTIONAL THREAT LEVEL : REDUCED TO 12% (Hayashi neutralized)

TOTAL CLAN POWER RATING : STAGE III [PROVINCIAL DOMINANCE]

"You have built a perfect cage, Ryu," Nobunaga said, a slow, predatory smile spreading across his face.

He reached down and picked up his personal token, placing it firmly at the absolute center of Kiyosu Castle.

"The elder retainers thought that by moving here, we were abandoning our power.

They didn't see that we were simply sharpening the blade."

He turned to Tokichirō, who was waiting anxiously at the edge of the tatami.

"Monkey[1].

Tell the carters to double the oil-cloth shipments to Nagoya.

I want Nobumori's matchlocks dry, even if the sky pours ink for a month.

If a single grain of powder turns damp because your peasants were lazy, I'll have your skin used as a bellows for the forge."

"By the light of the sun, My Lord!

The powder shall be drier than a monk's throat!"

Tokichirō shouted, bowing so low his forehead smacked the floorboards with an energetic thud.

Nobunaga then looked at Subaru, his gaze steady, carrying the unspoken weight of a master who knew his advisor had just rewritten the rules of engagement for the entire Sengoku era.

"The winter is settling in, Ryu," Nobunaga said softly, looking out the high window toward the dark, silent expanse of Owari.

"The roads are freezing.

Let the world think we are hiding inside the stone walls of Kiyosu, nursing our fears.

Let Yoshimoto write his letters and believe his own lies."

He drew his fan, snapping it open with a sound like a small thunderclap.

"When the spring thaws the mud, they will march into a province that no longer exists under the old rules.

We have moved the base, we have sorted the blades, and we are ready to rewrite the destiny of this land."

Subaru Ryu closed his digital ledger as the system notification settled into a solid, unblinking green bar.

The Great Migration was finalized.

The political friction was dead, the strategic positions were locked, and the new architecture of the Oda clan stood waiting for the storm of the century to break upon its gates.
