Chapter 8 - Chapter 8

Tina felt bad that it made her happy to see that it was not Ken it was not that she was glad that they were hurt but she was just happy it was not him. As the second ambulance arrived, they were all waiting on it, this time everyone seemed to look a lot more serious.

As it unloaded its passenger Tina's heart sank, she was not able to see much but what she saw was covered in blood, but she was sure that it was Ken and he defiantly had been hurt. Without thinking Tina started for him she just had to get close and hold his hand and tell him that she was there for him.

A nurse stopped her as she got close and said, "You are not allowed back here you will have to go wait in the waiting room until you are called."

Tina protested and said, "He is my boyfriend, I just have to see him."

The nurse turned to an orderly and told him to help her find her way to the waiting room. He nodded, stood in the way and pointed behind her, and said, "Come right this way so that they can do their jobs." He noticed how torn up she was, and he tried to be gentle with her, but he knew that she was a lot better off if she didn't see exactly the condition that he was in before they had a chance to work on him and get him cleaned up.

Tina looked up at him with the tears streaming down her face pleading for him just to let her go back and talk to him. With one stern look from him, she knew that there was no way that he was going to let her go and she knew that he was way too big for her to get past.

Tina only made it a few steps before the feeling that she was going to be sick hit her the image of Ken's face hand and arm covered in blood was simply too much for her with all the other stress that she was under.

Tina took off running, she either needed a bathroom that she could get into, or she needed to head back outside, she didn't want to be sick all over the floor. Within another three steps, she felt the little bit of food that she still had in her stomach trying to come up. She covered her mouth and found a bathroom and pushed her way through the door.

Tina managed to empty the contents of her stomach and her body didn't want to stop. The orderly heard her getting sick and all he could do is ask, "Are you, okay? Do you need any help in there?"

Tina thought, "What help are you going to give me at this time?" She said, "I'm okay." But she was hoping that he would just go away and leave her alone.

The orderly felt really uncomfortable standing outside the bathroom just waiting on her but was glad that she said she was okay he really didn't want to have to go in there to help or to have to go running after someone for her.

Now that it was over Tina was feeling not only sad and still a little nauseous but drained as well. It was like her life of her had poured out and drained every bit of her energy with it.

As she emerged from the bathroom the orderly took one look at her and asked her to sit down for a while. He was afraid with as pail as she looked that she was going to pass out or something.

Tina looked up at him with a look like you can't be serious on her face as she thought that she had no time to mess with this she had to get to see Ken. As she thought about it, she knew that he was not going to let her go anywhere and the more she protested the longer he was going to be hanging around. So, she went over to the nearest chair and took a seat shooting him dirty looks up at him the whole time.

He could tell that she was not happy and all he was doing was following orders and doing his job. Once he saw that the color had returned to her face he went on his way.

Tina was glad to see him walk away. She was tired of him asking her if she was okay, or if she was wanting something to eat or drink. She knew that he was just trying to help her, but there was no way that she was going to try and eat, or drink anything with her stomach this upset. After all, how could she be okay with everything going on?

Tina sat there thinking, trapped in her thoughts. There were feelings of loneliness that she knew she was going to have to deal with. Knowing that she was not going to have anyone there to help her just amplified the feeling of loneliness. She knew that her dad was probably not going to make it. At least from the way that the nurses had been talking. She now knew why her mom really had not been there for her since she was a child. It all was just so unfair. She wanted to scream at the top of her lungs, but she knew it would not matter, and would not change one thing that was going on with her. All she could do was cry and hope that this was all a bad dream.

As she sat there crying and nurse came by and asked, "Are you Tina More?"

Tina nodded her head and said, "Yes."

The nurse said with a smile, "We have moved your father to a private room, and you can go up and see him whenever you are ready."

Tina said, "I can't go, my boyfriend, just came in on an ambulance. I need to find out what's going on with him."

When she heard and saw the way that Tina was acting, she was unsure what she wanted to do. So, she just waited for Tina to say that she was staying or to get up and follow her. Tina asked, "Can you have someone let me know what's going on with him, and let me know when I can see him?"

The nurse nodded her head and said, "Sure I'll make sure that someone lets you know."

Tina was relieved at least to hear that, and she thought at least she was lucky enough to have them both at the same place. She would have hated it worse if her dad was in one and her boyfriend was in a hospital across town. She knew that she would be spending all her time going back and forth between them.

Tina followed the nurse to an elevator, and they took it to the top floor where they got off. The nurse showed her down a long hall past a nurse's station. Tina could not believe that there were so many people behind the desk. She was sure that some of them were nurses, and some were just the nurse's aides, while others were orderlies that seemed to be roaming around. It didn't look like there were that many rooms on the floor to take care of. She thought if this is where you have all the ones that aren't going to make it then it makes sense to put a bunch of nurses there to help them with what you can.

When Tina entered the room, her supposed mom was there holding his hand. She could not deny that she loved him, but that didn't mean that she had to like her, anything she did, or the way that she had treated her when she was around her.

She knew that Diana had to have loved her dad a lot to give up her life to become June. Since she knew that her mom had fought with her, and they had gotten to the point that she would not talk to her. Tina looked at her and wondered if she was jealous of her mom or if it was that she always just wanted her dad for herself. She didn't know and would not be asking any questions like that for a long time if ever.

Tina knew that if her dad was not sick, she would be mad enough to never talk to her ever again, but she knew that he was not only sick but on his death bed and that does a lot to make you forgive things even if you can't forget them.

Tina walked quietly into the room, and he was breathing hard and deep, but he was sound asleep. Diana looked at Tina and, in a way, she swished that she was not there, but she knew for his sake that he would want her there.

Suddenly, he started coughing and it sounded really raspy it was enough to wake him from his sleep and get his eyes open and see them both holding onto his hands. Till he pulled free to cover his mouth.

Sam gave a smile to them both, but they could tell that he was in a lot of pain while doing it. He was able to see the love that they had for him as well as the sadness that was there. He wanted to tell them not to be so sad, but he knew that they were going to be no matter how much they were trying to hide it.

Sam looked closely at Tina and the tears were still running down her cheeks he pulled her hand so that she would move close and said, "Don't worry little one I will be just fine." Then he gave her a bigger smile and a wink to let her know that he was still there for her, as he wiped away her tears, like he had done so many times in the past.

Tina could not help but smile and remember the old memory that she had as she closed her eyes and saw him in the past as being so big and so strong when she needed him. Seeing him that way made her happy and she knew that was the way that she would remember him always.

Just then a nurse burst in and said, "Tina, we need you to come with me. It's about your boyfriend."

Diana gave her an ice-cold look as she left the room it was like she was saying how dare you to leave to go see your boyfriend while all this is going on.
