"Mekian and Melui. Of course, it's these two again," Anna muttered, peering through the window of her office. The twins sat side by side on her couch, their identical faces locked in mischievous grins as Kleq poured tea for them.
Anna quickly forced a smile, masking the irritation simmering beneath. Then, with a sharp motion, she flung open the door, catching the twins and Kleq off guard.
"Look who decided to visit without following regulations," she said, her smile not quite reaching her eyes.
Mekian's crimson and golden eyes locked onto Anna's, his grin widening. "Well, we were wondering when you'd show up."
Though the twins were mirror images—matching faces, bodies, and sly smiles—their heterochromia set them apart: Melui's crimson eye was on the right; Mekian's on the left. Their personalities, however, were indistinguishable.
