Next morning,sun rays reached Merry's eyes and drived sleep away from her eyes .When she opened her eyes she again felt very weak and went to wash up .Elle helped her get dressed in a white dress made up of cotton and beautiful design of birds with a light blue colour.The dress reached her ankles .It perfectly matched with her greenish eye colour and her hair down.
She looks like a doll with an innocent look on her face. She was getting ready to go to the church as it was the day her mother died five years ago and unfortunately it was on her birthday night .Merry always thought that she is so unlucky for her family.Her mother death affected her so badly that it made her go in depression.But her father tried his best to get her over it and to get out of that thought from her mind.
" Elle please take care of Sumi" Merry asked Elle to take care of her pet dog Sumi.She loved her pet dearly .The warmth from those eyes of the little one was enough to drive away the stress.
" Don't worry princess and be careful on the way. " Elle responded and head back to the mansion after Merry left for the church in her carriage.
After praying in the church she was returning back to the mansion but suddenly someone jumped on the roof of the carriage.Made the carriage stumble and attacked it .All guards were protecting the princess but someone with a mischievous smile came in and it was non other than her own uncle's son Cedric,who once asked Merry's father for her hand in marriage but King Masin rejected the proposal.
Cedric was himself very powerful to get anyone he desired and he found it so easy to get Merry, who was as fragile as a flower.
He extended his hand to hold her by back of her neck which made her scream in fear .Merry even tried to get out of his grip by using all her strength but failed to even move because he was much more powerful than normal soldiers.
"You think you can get out of my sight dear Mariana ? "he asked,tilting his head and added " Your father has forgotten who he has rejected,now you have to face all the consequences for his fault" this made Merry feel numb as she could not think of a way to get out of his hold.
Then,Cedric approached to hold her waist to kidnap her but all of a sudden he was kicked on his left cheek and fall on the carriage's floor and the kick was from someone whose eyes appeared to be willing to kill him on the spot and his mind suddenly clicked and he looked to realise that it was non other than Maximilian,who was known by each and everyone.
" How dare you ,you bastard" Cedric screamed and tried to take out his sword but Maximilian stopped him on the spot by throwing a punch on Cedric's face.Max grab his hand and twisted it to get Cedric's lose grip on the sword.
"How dare you touch her ? Maximilian roared with full anger in his voice.Merry was so terrified by this situation and suddenly she lost her balance as she stumbled but Maximilian's arm reached her and helped her in time.
"Are you okay ? " he asked with concern in his eyes and suddenly his eyes met her eyes which took his breath and he felt something he could not explain in words .It was Maximilian 's first time to see someone that ethereal .But he soon realised she was trembling with fear and he got more furious and ordered his knights to arrest Cedric and send his family a warning notice to forget to even think of giving birth to such jerk.They followed his orders and took Cedric by force.
"Are you ....." he wanted to ask but felt her breathing was increasing.He tried to make her calm down.
" Take deep breath and calm down , you are safe now" he said it repeatedly to make her calm .After a while, she started slowly taking deep breaths as he instructed.He held her hands and made her sit on the carriage seat so that she could feel safe.He didn't know how to even calm someone as he himself never had anyone around him to teach him such things but he tried his best to do anything possible at that moment.
" Tha..tha.thank you fo...for he...helping me" she stuttered as she got so anxious.Maximilian could feel she was not fine and was so much surprised by how much she was trying to compose herself.
" it's my fault to be late ,you are my responsibility and still I made you go through all this ." he said with guilt in his voice.Merry got surprised by his words and asked in confusion " Y..You..Your res.. responsibility??"
