The leader's voice trailed off into a low whisper until it vanished entirely. His mind was spinning at a dizzying pace. There were simply too many coincidences, too many overlapping points between this mysterious youth and his daughter. It was reaching a point where coincidence felt like a lie.
"Oh, is that true?" William snapped out of his momentary daze, expertly masking his emotions. He tilted his head, acting innocent and ignorant of the weight his words had carried. "Then it must be fate. It seems destiny has a particular fondness for that name."
He offered a calm, thin smile, and with those simple words, effectively ended the debate before it could spiral into a dangerous interrogation.
"As we have agreed on everything else, let's speak about what you will do in the upcoming weeks," William said, pivoting the conversation back to planning. He turned to the elders, his expression becoming businesslike.
