[Chapter Size: 2200 Words.]
Third Person POV
Kumogakure, 43.
...
...
A was the new Raikage, after his father was killed in Uzu. Even young and not reaching his father's level, everyone in the Hidden Cloud Village expected him to take the hat — and that was exactly what happened.
A became the new Raikage and, since then, had been leading the village alongside the advisors and elders. His father was not able to leave him completely prepared for this, but he received a lot of help and advice.
At this moment, a meeting where they patiently read Konoha's report at the summit of the Hidden Cloud Village, in a silent and serious manner — that is how it would be, if someone in the middle of the room were not extremely irritated, unable to control his bad mood.
A, even more so for being so young, did not stop releasing lightning around his body, making everyone quite uneasy and already terrified with Konoha's situation and how powerful it had become.
It only lacked chaos breaking out right there, inside the room, because of the new Raikage's temperament.
"Damned bastards!" he roared, smashing the table with a punch, cracking it in half.
Everyone fell silent, carefully looking at the village leader.
Obviously, as the heir to the Lightning Cloak technique, there would be no one more capable of assuming the position of Raikage besides A. Only someone of his lineage seemed capable of using it.
"Raikage-sama, unfortunately we cannot do anything about this. The plans we had for Konoha will be unable to be carried out this time," said one of the advisors who had been there since his father's time.
"I know that very well!" the new Raikage growled furiously.
"Listen. Send a message immediately to Suna, Iwa, and Kiri. We will schedule an immediate meeting. It can be in the Land of Iron, which is usually neutral among all nations. Tell them the meeting will be in two weeks and that all the Kages must bring only a minimal security team. I will go personally so we can discuss the threat that Konoha is becoming to the ninja world," he said.
Everyone agreed, and the Raikage simply stood up, not wanting to discuss it any further.
"Where is Bee? Why didn't he come when I sent for him?" he shouted.
A secretary immediately stepped forward, nervous. "Raikage-sama, we haven't found Lord Bee for some time. We sent people after him, but none returned informing where he was. No one managed to find him," she said.
The Raikage became even more nervous. "I'll go after that idiot. Do what I asked."
The young Raikage only said that, blowing out the window as he advanced outside the village, creating his own Lightning Cloak to run faster.
And, just as he had already imagined, he found Bee in an area far from the village.
And what was Bee doing? Certainly not training. He was writing in his small rap notebook when an explosion came at his side, making him jump in fright.
"What are you doing, you idiot?!"
A looked at the younger boy, furious. He had not participated in the war in Uzushiogakure, as he was too young. It was their father who chose him after searching for an ideal candidate to become the jinchuuriki of the Eight-Tails and form a duo with A. And so Bee was chosen.
"Oh, brother, you're here? I was drifting in my thoughts, thinking about how my brother is doing!" he began rapping in a way that did not please A's ears — and certainly was not good rap.
He only stopped when A stepped forward and punched his forehead.
"I told you to be at the meeting, you fool! I needed you, but forget it now!" A said, as the boy recovered.
"Here's the situation, Bee. We're in a bad spot. You're close to mastering the Eight-Tails, and we need that power in the next war if we don't want to swallow everything that Minato and the Uzumakis did to us. They're now in the Leaf Village. You know what that means — we won't be able to recover the resources lost in the attack against the Uzumaki by seeking them in Konoha. We need you to train seriously, understand?"
Bee, still rubbing his forehead, looked at him and nodded.
"Alright, brother... I'll give it my all," he replied at the end, realizing the matter was quite serious.
He still remembered how the ninjas had returned from the Battle of Uzushiogakure, certainly not happy, bringing back the body of the Third Raikage himself, dead. The jinchuuriki of the Two-Tails arrived four days later, exhausted, after having been sent into the middle of the sea.
Elsewhere, even in small countries and lesser villages, they also received some reports. Although they were not as detailed as those of the great nations, due to a much lower level of infiltration, they still learned what was happening in Konoha and of the losses suffered by the great villages.
They could not help but worry.
Even though they were only secondary participants in the wars, without the weight that the Five Great Nations carried in the last two wars, they still saw Konoha as something quite dangerous. They did not fail to look with a certain caution toward the Land of Fire, which was gaining more and more power and which, if it launched an attack against the entire ninja world, could even conquer a large part of it — or all of it — at this moment.
This even involved the Daimyo, the legitimate owners of that land, who also began to carefully observe the military power that not even recently they would have been able to stop if they were attacked and became enemies.
While some specific groups had a deeper perception than others, trying to understand how the Five Great Nations would react, Hanzou did not fail to frown as he looked at the reports.
Minato Namikaze was a name that had caused him quite a headache since the Second War.
The boy had already shown enormous potential at that time, so much so that Hanzou himself had wanted to kill him — and tried. He definitely tried when he intervened in the fight between Minato Namikaze and the jinchuuriki of the Four-Tails.
Even after having just fought against a perfect jinchuuriki, the boy had still invoked an S-Rank jutsu that nearly killed him. When he unleashed that thunder from the sky in the shape of a dragon, Hanzou would never forget such a technique, formed from the heat created by the jinchuuriki himself when releasing his Lava Release.
He considered the Sannin great geniuses and named them as they are known today, when the village was winning the war. There had been no reason to kill them at that time, but they did not even compare to Minato; he saw more potential and more strength in the boy than in the three students of the Third Hokage combined.
If he had had a real opportunity, he would have killed Minato.
And look at what happened: the boy grew up and became powerful to the point that the village itself could no longer control him. Only one year after the war ended, Konoha itself tried to restrain him. The former Hokage saw him as a threat and tried to subdue him, but the boy not only overcame that, he put the Hokage himself on his knees before the entire village — and killed Danzō, a secret ally of Hanzō whom he kept for negotiations in the shadows.
Now he needed to be careful with the Namikaze family. It was no coincidence that all the girls who had known Minato since childhood and married him possessed a strength that shocked the entire world. There was no way he would want to face the boy after what he had heard.
What kind of monster fights against four entire nations, kills two Kages, deals with bijuus, and kills thousands of people?
He was already considered a demigod in the ninja world, but Minato was on an even higher level — a level comparable to those two from the past, or more.
Hanzou could not help but think of the ancient legends.
In any case, he could only wait to see what the nations would do now, for they would not remain still. Minato Namikaze was a unique power in the ninja world, something that unbalanced everyone. And that alone was not enough: his wives had similar levels, forming a unique family.
The Namikaze were clearly a group that Hanzou did not want to face — and he doubted that anyone truly wanted to do so without being absolutely certain they could defeat them.
He turned his attention to three new names that had begun to emerge in the Land of Rain: Nagato, Konan, and Yahiko. Three war orphans who had begun to stand out in the country.
He certainly needed to worry not only about what was happening in the ninja world, but also about the movements in the Land of Rain.
Meanwhile, Orochimaru was in his laboratory when a snake appeared at his side. He looked at the animal as it opened its mouth and pulled out a small scroll. Orochimaru took it and began to read it.
"So Konoha is changing..."
Konoha tried to ambush him. He was away when they discovered his laboratory. They tried to lure him back, but Orochimaru was clever enough to identify the trap and escape. Sakumo Hatake and Konoha's elite tried to capture him; in the end, he had to flee.
So he left for his laboratories in the Land of Sound, lands he had secretly acquired during the Second War and in the post-war period, achieving this thanks to the freedom his sensei granted him — until he was forced to step down from his position.
And, as if that were not enough, he even expected a Third World War to come against Konoha and put it in trouble. Or worse: the most likely scenario might have already happened. Minato returned to Konoha.
He had always considered the possibility of Minato appearing in the war and protecting Konoha, but what happened before it even began was something even worse than his first prediction.
Konoha strengthened itself at least four or five times more, with its firepower expanded thanks to the new addition.
Orochimaru now pursued his new life goal: immortality. He was almost managing to develop it thanks to his experiments and was also seeking, somehow, to become stronger, since his great dream was to learn all the jutsus in the world.
He tried to find a pattern between geniuses and mediocrities.
He had even captured children in an attempt to find someone at Minato's level, since the blond's talent had intrigued him greatly. An orphan from a clan specialized in space techniques, yet Minato strangely was born with that light ability... Clan Hōzukistyle, but far more powerful, after all his tangible form had no discovered weakness so far.
Even though he was a completely out-of-curve case, he still nurtured some hope of discovering something extraordinary there, but in the end, he was disappointed.
Thus, he began to create and study children not only from Konoha, but from the entire ninja world, even seeking members of clans with unique abilities. Kiri had a strong demand for certain types of ninjas, and Orochimaru even traded some on the black market, buying bodies from important clans and even captured living children — all to study them and learn more and more.
But now he needed to act differently, trying to strengthen his position, since the trade was no longer as profitable. Kiri blocked it.
He understood the reason.
For him as well. Now, with Minato Namikaze there, the problems would increase even more.
Minato might even have had something to do with the discovery of his laboratories. After all, he appeared in Konoha only a few days later.
Orochimaru became cautious, even more so knowing that the ninja was enraged with him, as he sought revenge for what happened with Sunagakure — and he must not have been happy at all upon discovering the fate of some of his test subjects in Konoha.
Orochimaru thought only about hiding until making his move. He was finally achieving immortality. He could not stop now, even in the face of the threat of those monsters.
Elsewhere, in the Land of Waterfalls, in a hidden underground chamber, a White Zetsu appeared before Madara.
"Madara-sama," he greeted him.
"What are the nations proposing to do?" the old man asked.
"Suna, Iwa, and even Kiri want to schedule a meeting. But the only one who took the initiative was Kumo. The Raikage proposed that, in two weeks, they meet in the Land of Iron," Zetsu reported.
"Good... that is good. We will finally be able to interfere," Madara said.
He also intended to participate in that small gathering.
