Chapter 604 - Arc 11 Side Story 1.29: He Who Slays Dragons part 1

-Break-

Location: Forge Country Tierkönig; Gevurah Base Camp; Captivant's Tent

Φ I am Captivant, the man who stands above everything else and everyone else. A man who was trash like every other who walked across this planet, yet with my own two hands, with my very own will, I bent it to my own, I overcame all the plagues and infections that tried to tire me out, I broke free of them all like the champion I am.

Now peasants spend each day waiting for the next words that release from my soul, the rulers of the kingdom send gifts and honours to entice me to their side, and people distance themselves from those who wish to harm me, knowing the retribution I can bring. In this era of heroes and warmongers, I overcame them all. I stand above it all.

Yet she looks at me like that. Like a fool, like an idiot who can't capture greatness. Doesn't she know I chose to stand by her, to be with her, to keep her close by my side when I could've picked any other female for the position, yet she has the gall to look down on me, to call me Adrian. I am nothing like all the rest; I am above it all, so why doesn't she see it? Why doesn't the person I've kept close for all these years see the greatest and wonder at the echoes of each action, each step I take? Is she that blinded by her ego? Her denial of me is just a poor attempt to defend her sense of self against the fact that she is beneath me. Because in this world, I am the greatest.

Φ In an instant, a giant explosion sends shockwaves resounding through Captivant's ears, forcing the sleeping man awake.

He turns his head from side to side, taking count of the 12 different women within his tent with him, before quickly grabbing whatever clothes he has, and running outside his tent, where all at once his body takes in the flames, explosions and screams all emanating from the base camp below him.

"Is someone attacking? We haven't officially declared war on Tierkönig yet; they must know it is stupid to start a war already? Is this some rogue idiot!"

Rushing forward from the base camp, a man with wounds all stricken across his back says, "Sir Captivant!"

His body looks like it could collapse at any second, yet seeing this, the author ignores it and asks, "Is that how you address me?"

The man gets on one knee and lowers his head as he says, "Please forgive my lord. I've come to help you escape."

"What kind of nonsense is this, sending only one man to escort me?"

"I apologise, but some kind of monster is ripping through the land beneath us. An exceptionally strong warrior, with all our forces, we are barely acting as a delay, so I was the only person able to be spared to escort you."

"How foolish, I am worth more than this entire base camp, and this is what you sent for me? Hurry up, we need to go."

Captivant turns himself around, prepared to head off, and says, "Grab one of the women and carry them in one of my spare cloaks. I will head in the opposite direction. If worst comes to worst, lie and say I went back to Gevurah some time ago."

With those words, the man prepares to take off, yet before a single step is released from his body, a giant blouder lands in front of him, causing the guard behind him to turn around and say, "He made it through."

Fear burns on Captivant's body as he quickly turns around to see his pursuer, a familiar face lies.

His body tenses up, and walking forward, a man in a long black and green coat imbued with the markings of a dragon's head impaled by a sword, with a ruffled white shirt, and black pants, walks forward. His face is covered in poorly shaved facial hair, and in his hand is some kind of Great sword which is shapped in a way that makes it clear it is a cursed weapon, yet it all doesn't distract Captivant from the sound of the man's voice, which says, "I made a promise to you, Captivant, that if you started misbehaving I would discipline you."

"Siegrund?"

With an angered look, he says, "The one and only. Whose's here to show you what it means to be a warrior."

"To be a warrior? Are you insane? Don't you know this is an official military campaign? You just attacked Gevurah when they're in the middle of an important business meeting, Sieg Bisumod or not, that doesn't give you the right to do that?"

"I do have the right to fix the mistake my pupil makes."

"Mistakes? What mistakes have I caused you, uptight idiot? I have only fulfilled the promise we made that day. I am not a man who makes the world bend to my knees, and with that power I've liberated, strengthened, and invigorated countless people across the world."

His eyes open wide, before a wave of anger starts to take back control. "Can you hear them anymore, the voices of the people hero?"

"What the hell are you even on about?"

With a look of disappointment, he says, "Of course you can't, you've fallen further than when I first met you."

"SHUT THE HELL UP!" Captivant says fuelled with an unending swarm of rage. "WHO THE HELL ARE YOU TO TRY AND TALK TO ME ABOUT MY OWN GREATESTNESS? I WON'T LISTEN TO A SINGLE WORD OF THIS NONSENSE! VANISH!"

"Sorry. But don't you remember our rules? When it comes to training, your opinion doesn't matter."

Running forward, he grabs the sword of the soldier in front of him, pushing the man to the ground and coursing spirit energy throughout his body. Captivant says, "If you don't believe I've grown stronger, I am going to prove it to you right now!"

Charging forward, he shouts, "DIE!"

As his eyes blink for a moment, the world around him changes in an instant as his eyes stare at the sky with Siegrund standing beside him. Confusion takes his mind as fears crawl through every inch of his flesh.

He didn't know how he ended up here; he didn't feel it, he didn't even perceive it. The entire flow of motion against his body passed through it even more softly than the wind itself. In this moment his instinctively knew he was helpless to whatever the man standing to his side decided to do.

Yet he denied this reality and stood himself up, huffing and puffing all the while glaring at his master, who says, "Has your arrogance really reached such a point, Captivant?"

"BE QUIET!" The man shouts, swinging his fist towards his master.

His fist flies fast, yet from the perspective of the man who is to receive it, its motion looks like it has been frozen in one place. Effortlessly, he moves the back of his right hand into Captivant's chest, sending an impact that sends the boy onto his knees, breathing in and out rapidly as he tries to regain his breath.

Reaching his hand down, he flings Captivant over his shoulder and says, "Take slow and weak breaths; if you put too much pressure on your lungs right now, they might explode."

With those words his takes a few steps forward, and the boy hanging over his body stares down at the ground in pain and confusion, feeling the weight of the fear fully overtake him. Yet as he sees a little flame on the ground, a smile appears on his face, and in that moment, he uses all the strength he can muster to smash his knee against Siegrund's face, only for it to be blocked.

Yet in that moment, the flame beneath them grows and encapsulates the two of them, and for them both, the world around them vanishes and shifts away.

Location: Holy Nation Gevurah, Western Border; Den of the Sky

His eyes move all around him, and in every single place his eyes see a large swarm of Wonderbeast bones, many of them of some type of flying creature decorated in jewellery, whilst also being carved with a large series of markings.

Staring up towards the sky his sees a heavenly blue sky, with a series of swirling clouds that surround a shining golden light that falls down on them both. Yet more than that is the giant bird cage made of rotting trees that hangs over the entire area.

Lowering his head, Siegrund says, "I never thought I would be able to see a rare sight like the birthplace of all flying Wonderbeasts."

A voice from a distance says, "Then you should take it in."

Turning his head, Siegrund see a man with orange hair dressed in a large series of red and silver cloth that wraps around his body, making him look like a puffed-up pillow, with a giant, wide-brimmed hat.

He smiles as he sits against the corpse of one of the giant wonderbeasts in the area, and kicking his legs like a kid, he says, "I will be taking that from you now."

In an instant, Captivant's body is covered in flames, and soon the flames spurt up beside the man who grabs the man by the collar, and flings him around in supremacy.

Annoyed, Siegrund says, "Raro the hunter, of the 7 Miracles of Gevurah, I ask you to return my student to me."

"Hahahahaha, that's a funny request, Sieg Bisumod, but do you really understand your situation? You just attacked a Gevurah base whilst being a representative of a force that is deeply aligned with Cordum and the Rinastcean Union. As far as I am concerned, you just informally declared war?"

"I assure you, I have no intention of spilling any unnecessary blood; all your men, while injured, are still alive. I've just come to punish my student. As you know, we take discipline are own very seriously, and will not allow any nation of force to stop us from doing so."

"Request denied. This man is of great use to Gevurah and my lady. Even if I wished his power belonged to someone of greater character, it isn't something I can just throw to the side, especially to an enemy of ours."

"I see if your issue is the weaponisation of him. I hold no such will; my only perspective is to remove his foolishness. So please hand him over, because if we must clash over him, your level of skill would make it hard not to kill you to recover him."

Raro falls onto his back as laughter bursts out of his mouth. "A no-name Sieg Bisumod threatening one of the 7 strongest humans of Gevurah? How comically, maybe I can understand a little why my lady was staring at your actions at our camp. Yet it's the last joke that shall ever rip out of your mouth."

Captivant body freeze as the calm, caring anger he felt radiate from Siegrund is replaced by something far more vile and destructive by the man in front of him.

Feeling this, Siegrund prepares himself, and beside his body, two flames appear, which he cuts in an instant, yet from the flames all he sees are two bags of salt. Then, against his back, he feels an impact that sends him flying.

He forces his body to turn, and there he sees a woman in clothes that look like a fusion between a nun's veil and mantle that covers her body from just below the bust upwards, with the rest of her torso being covered in a unitard. She wears a pair of black pants, and two small gauntlet-like fist braces, and throughout her clothes, yellow straps cross, causing X's everywhere.

Activating her Legacy on her Gauntlets and from it shining white tiny sparkles fling outwards that bash directly into Siegrund's stomach, causing a series of explosions to go off, flinging him even further back.

Seeing this, Captivant says, "He's a goner," with a small smile of victory appearing on his face as his hands shake.
