After the initial confusion, my heart sped up as relief flooded my senses. Because even if Max and I would never get back together, I would be glad if it turned out my best friend didn't betray me.
Still, the first words that left my mouth were "Which one?"
"Which one?" Melanie looked at me like I was an idiot, as if she wasn't the one who had dropped a bomb and not explained its origin properly. I rubbed my temples. "I have four brothers. Although, it's a little strange that you show up on the day I decide to meet up with…"
"It's him." She darts her eyes to the left then to the right even though there is no one nearby. "Carson."
I stare at her, my mind spinning. "You were right—we need to catch up over coffee."
