Gu Jianlin silently clenched his fist; this might be the closest he had ever come to the truth.
"Before we proceed, I have to ask you one question. Are you truly ready to bear everything? Because when we get to the bottom of this, the outcome might not be what you desire, and you may not achieve the peace and happiness you seek."
Professor Cheng stared into his eyes, asking seriously.
Gu Jianlin felt a sense of déjà vu with this question and suddenly said, "This isn't the question you want to ask, is it?"
Professor Cheng nodded slightly: "This is what the President asked me to ask."

"Before she left, the President came to see me. I thought she was there to kill me, but she didn't. She said she's lived for four hundred years, has killed too many people, and is a bit tired of it.
