Marshall's POV
The island called Mateo was only 1 hour away from Aklat-An Island. The island was small but looked vibrant and full of beautiful culture. I can see papaya and coconut trees from the ferry when the ferry is closing in. My Shinx was positive while Rico and the rest were looking forward at getting off at that island as our stopover before Dahon-Dahon City. After the ferry anchored itself at the village port in Pillak, we got off while lugging our backpacks on our backs. The sea salt air gave a fresh air to breathe in. The sight of palm and papaya trees and the white beaches gave such a tropical paradise feel on this small island in the middle of the Kamias Bay.
As we navigated the cobblestone paths, we were mesmerized at the sight of brick homes and wooden huts. Rico said that the wooden ones are bahay-kubo, which were elevated and made of bamboo and wood. The weather was hot and clear.
We made rounds around the lush palm and papaya trees while some residents and their Pokémon are harvesting ripe fruits from them. Rico and Shion are taking pictures of them with their smartphones. My Luxio was taking in fresh air and relaxed at the nature view of this island.
But then, we heard some flying tech hovering from the sky, and some residents and their Pokémon fled the scene. We were on our guard just in case it was a threat, and we were right. "Hello there, kids…" a smooth voice said to us.
When we looked upwards, there were 3 of those Pokémon Pinchers from the organization Societea. "What the…?!" Rico responded to this.
"Nice day on this island, isn't it?" the PP squad leader chuckled at us, before releasing his Pokémon, a mighty Garchomp.
It landed on the ground in front of us while growling with hostility at us.
In response to that, I had my Luxio face the Garchomp, while Rico commanded his Riolu, Litleo, and Starly to step into battle. Jonathan and Shion did the same thing with their Greninja and Absol.
It was now a battle on this island.
