Chapter 11 - Volume 1 Chapter 10

Unknowst to atrau he was being trailed by Conan and his gang.

As atrau entered the heart of the town, he was immediately engulfed in the vibrant energy of the bustling streets. The lively atmosphere filled his senses with the cacophony of merchants hawking their goods, the joyful laughter of children reverberating off the buildings, and the rhythmic clatter of hooves as horse-drawn carriages weaved through the throngs of people.

The architecture of the buildings was a sight to behold, adorned with colorful stone and wooden facades that lent each structure a unique charm. Although the streets were narrow, they allowed for the smooth passage of pedestrians and the occasional horse-drawn carriage that traversed the busy thoroughfares.

Curiosity piqued, Atrau approached a merchant and inquired about the wares on display.

"Greetings, adventurer! Welcome to my humble shop. What can I get for you today?" the merchant warmly greeted him.

"I'm just browsing. What do you have available?" Atrau replied with a hint of intrigue.

The merchant's eyes sparkled with enthusiasm. "Well, I have an assortment of items to ignite your imagination and aid you in your daring escapades. How about this enchanted amulet? It possesses the power to illuminate even the darkest corners, guiding your path."

Atrau chuckled and raised his smartphone. "I have a flashlight right here on my phone."

The merchant nodded, undeterred. "Ah, I see. Well, perhaps you'd be interested in this potion of speed instead? It bestows upon you an extra surge of energy, enabling you to outpace any competition. Or, for those who prefer sheer might, we have an elixir of strength that grants you the ability to lift heavy objects and overcome formidable adversaries."

Atrau pondered for a moment. "Those do sound intriguing. What else do you have?"

The merchant's eyes gleamed as he continued, "In addition, I possess a plethora of maps and scrolls that can serve as reliable guides throughout your journey. Should protection be your utmost concern, fear not! I offer a selection of enchanted armor and shields, forged to safeguard against a wide array of attacks."

Atrau's interest piqued further. "I'd like to take a look at those."

The merchant nodded and gestured toward a nearby display. "Please, peruse at your leisure."

As Atrau examined the merchandise, his mind wandered to the issue of payment. He voiced his concern, "I'm afraid I don't have enough gold on me at the moment."

The merchant leaned in conspiratorially, a mischievous grin spreading across his face. "Tell you what, my friend. You strike me as a capable adventurer. How about I offer you a quest to complete instead? Succeed in this endeavor, and the items you desire shall be yours, free of charge."

atrau's eyes widened with excitement. "Really? What kind of quest are we talking about?"

The merchant's grin widened. "I require someone brave enough to retrieve a rare gemstone from a nearby dungeon. Legend has it that a fearsome dragon guards it fiercely. If you can bring the gemstone back to me, the items I promised shall be yours."

At that moment, Raila interjected, cautioning Dante, "Champion, you are ill-equipped for such a perilous undertaking, and you lack the proper documentation to be an adventurer."

atrau's realization washed over him. "So, my money ain't good here, and I'm left penniless without any means to earn or find my way home. I'm truly screwed."

Raila intervened, offering a glimmer of hope. "I believe my master might be able to assist you."

Atrau sighed, accepting the lifeline. "Okay, let's go meet him."
