All around were the sounds of revelry, and Eason Chalmers strained his ears to listen carefully, afraid he might miss something.
When he heard Mr. Lucas mention that Alice was short on money, Eason was taken aback and asked, "Why is she short on money? Did something happen to her family?"
"I actually looked into it and found out there was indeed something wrong with her family," Mr. Lucas suddenly paused, sensing something odd. He looked at Eason and asked, "Mr. Chalmers, do you know her?"
"Maybe an acquaintance. No need for nonsense, just keep talking," Eason was upfront. Back in high school, there was a transfer student named Alice Yates whose parents were in business and well-off.
She only stayed for two semesters before transferring again, which was typical for her, as she followed her parents' business.
After she transferred, she became unreachable, let alone seen.
