With face as taut as stone and eyes gradually misting from a burning spiciness, Rain rose and said through clenched teeth, "I'm done eating, sire. I will put the awful dishes away and take my leave now."
She'll rather swallow the horrible porridge than have to endure listening to his bitter words any further.
"But I'm not done eating, Rain" Derek objected with a straight face.
Eyes widened, Rain looked at him in shock and malice. "But you..."
"I what?" Derek placed his spoon down on the table with a loud clank. His dense lashes swept up and narrowed nearly to slits. "I merely reviewed the food, I never denied eating. Sit back down, Rain."
The moment Derek had dropped the silverware that rowdly, Rain was quick to perceive the menacing change in his emotion. It was the same displeased display he had shown her on her first day arriving at the castle. He'd slapped down his cutleries this crudely at the dining hall and then he'd spoken with such low and eerily calm tone.
