Chapter 7 - I want those memories

After saying all that, he suddenly fainted which caused him to collapse. Before the pain of fall transmitted to his brain, his vision immediately darkened as if he had run out of battery.

Thud!

His fall made a dull crashing sound that startled the two.

"Ehhh?! What happened to him, gramps?"

"I don't know," replied the Wisdom Tree.

Oreal immediately fluttered her transparent wings. She flew and approached him. She stopped right next to his face. She looked to see if he was still alive. When she noticed that the young man was still breathing, she breathed in relief.

"Looks like he just passed out, gramps. What are we going to do with him?" Oreal asked.

"Hmm…" the Wisdom Tree came to ponder. Suddenly, a leaf slowly flew away as if blown by the wind. It was from Wisdom Tree's branch.

Slowly, the leaf landed on Rom's chest. As it landed on his chest, it shone faintly. About three seconds later, the Wisdom Tree spoke again.

"For now, let's let him rest first. Although there was no damage to his spiritual countenance, his body had reached the limit. It is the effect of his injuries to the body."

After the old tree pointed it out, Oreal looked back at the human and noticed his condition. She noticed that he was full of wounds. And there were also scars on various parts of his body. He also wears ragged clothing.

Her eyes flickered in excitement when she saw it. As if seeing a new hope. But she needed to confirm something first. She hastily turned to the Wisdom Tree.

"Are you the one who did this to him, gramps?" She asked.

"The injuries and scars?" The Wisdom Tree asked back.

"Yes," Oreal nodded in confirmation.

"I did not do that. When he came here, his body was so full of bruises that it was as if a slight breeze of wind could kill him. So are the scars on his body, they were there before we even fought."

"I see." Oreal didn't even doubt what the Wisdom Tree said because the two of them knew each other for a long time. Instead, she looked excited when she heard that it wasn't the Wisdom Tree who caused his injuries.

She said in an excited tone, "In that case, it meant someone beat—!" Oreal stopped speaking when suddenly Wisdom Tree interjected.

"Forget it… it wasn't caused by others either. His training and travel caused his injury," Oreal heard The Wisdom Tree said that.

"How do you know?" Oreal asked, sounding dejected.

The Wisdom Tree pointed at the part which could be its temple, using one of its branches.

"Do you mean, his old memories?"

"Yes."

"Can you tell me a little of his memory?" She asked.

The Wisdom Tree narrowed its eyes at Oreal and asked, "Are you sure?"

"Y-Yes, of course!" She sounded hesitant, though.

The Wisdom Tree sighed. "Before that. Don't force yourself, okay?" Said the old tree to her in a tone of concern to the fairy friend.

Oreal nodded and said, "Don't worry."

"Hmn, it's rare to see you act like that," said The Wisdom Tree.

"It's not like that. This human beat you once. And I can't feel any bad or goodwill from him. It can be—"

"A sign?"

Oreal nodded silently.

The Wisdom Tree first looked at the lying young man for almost 3 seconds before it talked again. "I see. But before that, do you think he's telling the truth?"

"Yes, he's telling the truth."

"I see. If you say so. Regardless, you know that I can't just share the memories I consumed from others right?"

"Ah! Just a slight detail only," Oreal begged.

Wisdom Tree sighed and nodded slightly.

Oreal then listened attentively when The Wisdom Tree started telling her some details regarding the human the young man beside them.

After hearing The Wisdom Tree, "A… A pr—? Ahem! Is that true?" Oreal asked in bewilderment.

The Wisdom Tree nodded. "Yes."

"I see. So that's why you agree to his challenge. Please, gramps, I wanted to ask something. If it succeeds, it may change the current flow of the world!"

Looking at the resolute eyes of the fairy friend, The Wisdom Tree couldn't help but nod.

"Sure, what is it?"

Oreal then told him.

It was already night when Rom opened his eyes. What greeted him were twinkling stars shining brightly up in the sky. The first word that came to his mind when he saw it was the word beautiful. The sky was so beautiful that it seemed like a dream.

Rom used the strength of his hands to help himself get up. When he got up, he immediately noticed that he was lying on the grass again.

He suddenly remembered what had happened before he lost consciousness. He still seems to be here in this world. So it's true that it wasn't a dream.

"Oh, you finally woke up? How are you feeling?"

He heard the familiar mysterious voice. He looked to the front and he saw the mysterious tree looking at him as well. On one of its branches, the nest was still there, and in that nest, he knew that the Fairy Oreal was lying.

Rom immediately felt his whole body. He noticed no pain, but some parts of his body felt numb.

"I'm fine. Uhm, can you tell me how many hours I slept?" He asked.

"Hours?" The mysterious tree asked him as if wanted to say, "are you kidding?"

Rom's forehead furrowed slightly. However, the mysterious tree immediately followed what it said. "You've been asleep for a whole week."

Rom's mouth and eyes opened wide. "One week?!" He couldn't believe it.

The Wisdom Tree thought his reaction was only natural.

Rom found out that because of the injuries sustained to his body he had been comatose for an entire week.

"Say, what are your plans now that you're in another world?" Suddenly, the magical tree asked him.

Rom didn't answer right away. He pondered.

He turned around. He saw the glowing insects flying and giving extra beauty to the surroundings.

He also heard noises that he suspected were from insects because of the timbre of their voices.

It was just weird because he understood what they were saying. They were like noisy children playing under a dark but starry sky. Maybe if he was in his original world at these times he would have long questioned his sanity. Or be afraid of what he hears. However, because he was in a world where the impossible of his former world might have been possible in this world, these things did not cause him much fear.

Rom turned again to the magical tree. He slowly opened his mouth. "There is only one thing I want to do. To write a good story of this world," he replied.

"W-write a story?" The Wisdom Tree seemed dumbfounded. It was a reply it less expected.

In continuation, Rom tried to ask some questions about this world.

"Fufufu, sorry, kid. But you can't get anything from me, your rival. Not until your total defeat."

Since they were fighting through wisdom, any information could be a lethal weapon.

Rom's mouth opened into a voiceless laugh. Before he knew it he had become a rival of this old and magical tree. Anyway, he can use his ability to question all the creatures he sees in this world and gather as much information as he wants. Especially in his ability from eating that fruit, he believed it wouldn't be difficult for him.

"R-regardless, I'd like to postpone the third match first for reasons you already know."

"Also..." Rom was silent for a moment. In fact, he still had a lot of knowledge that could be used against this Wisdom Tree. Knowledge from his original world. However, his concern was that it could also use his old memories against him, especially since it had the memory of the previous owner of this body.

"I want to take back the memories that are in your possession first. Is there a way to get them back to me?"

Those memories belong to his now new body, so it's only natural that he wanted to get them back.

He also needed to know the persona of the former owner of this body. He didn't want to act like a person with amnesia in case he met someone who knows this body.
