Theodore sat at the end of the table as men he had looked up to his whole life shouted angrily and behaved as if they were possessed. One side of the table wanted to send reinforcements to the Duchy of Einhardt, while the other argued about the expenses and how they should bolster the Capital defenses instead. Yet another minister was going off on a tangent about how elves needed to be removed from the kingdom altogether.
Sitting at the head of the table was Theodore's father Augustus von Montfort the king of this nation. He looked older and more tired than Theodore remembered. The whole time he wished he could leave this room of men who only knew how to talk and actually do something.
