Isiah hated the fact that he had been saved by her. He hated that he had to save her in return, and above all, he hated that his life was so utterly twisted that he had to kiss her simply to preserve his own mind.
"A human," he muttered, gazing down at her intensely.
Lexie stared up at him, completely confused by his sudden words.
She desperately wanted to say more, but refrained, forcing herself to remain calm until she could figure out how to act around him after so many kisses.
To her, those moments were meaningful kisses, far more than she had ever dared to dream of sharing with him. To Isiah, however, it was nothing more than a mechanical transaction to consume her blood.
