Before anyone in the yard even realized what was happening, Isiah was already free of the magical ropes binding him. He had summoned his divine fire and scorched the bonds to ash, though in his complete lack of magic control, he had badly burned his own wrists in the process.
Yet what he had accomplished was far beyond his expectations. The flames vanished the second the intense heat seared his skin; he had been concentrating furiously to manifest the fire, but the sudden, sharp shock of burning himself ruptured his flow of focus entirely.
He tried not to draw any attention to himself, silently forcing his body to move against the crushing weight of the telepathic pressure magic pinning him down.
