At some point in time millions of souls were created with the sole purpose of participating in an experiment of God and given a system and subsequently placed inside of a random lower plane of reality called Velicar which is a lower plane designed to be used solely for experiments like this one which was to test the usefulness of the system they designed or if there was anything needing improvements.
To make sure the test worked and not just random chaos they created brand new souls to use and imprinted memories into them so they believe that this world has existed for thousands of years with extensive history.
They only made one mistake in the process of setting the experiment up and that was giving one of the souls no memories or a system and much more importantly making them a virus that could evolve infinitely as long as they assimilated traits from their hosts.

In the middle of nowhere on a small crimson red ant with slight black details was a tiny blue microscopic spec one would call a virus but unlike most other viruses this one has a soul.
'Food?'the virus thought as it felt it was on top of a living organism that it could feed on to gain energy.
It then proceeded to slowly eat away at its flesh for the next month before realising that there were other microscopic specs on the ant so it decided to eat at them rather than the ant as then the food would probably last longer since the ant seems to attract these spec like a moth to the flame.
Unfortunately for it the virus had no idea on how to move since that's usually the ants job after all so it decided to wait until it learned how moving was performed.
Three months later the virus was visibly larger than when it was at the start of its existence but the most notable thing was that it had started to learn how to manipulate its cell membrane to slightly mimic the appearance of legs but mostly looking like stumps but that was enough as now it could slowly drag it's way across the ants body to other microscopic specs and devour them whole.
Over time the virus got larger because of this and went from its original colour of blue to a pinkish tone of purple, it also got more adept at manipulating its cell membrane to move.
On one lucky day the virus came across a leaf which was absolutely massive compared to the virus but it could tell it wasn't part of the ant so it started to devour it as well as any specs it would find on it when one day it discovered that it had developed the ability the feed on the sun as it had produced chloroplast massively boosting its energy production at this moment it realised that it could probably take traits from the things it eats and assimilate then into its self.
With this knowledge it decided to go back to eating the ant as it believes that it might gain proper legs from it and was determined to find out.
Six months later a small entity bigger than most bacteria can be found on the back of an ant that strangely appeared stronger than most others and this small creature was none other than the virus which had gained a much stronger cell membrane mimicking an exoskeleton and grew legs similar to that of an ant and it was blood red this time the same as the ant clearly signifying that it had fed quite a lot on the ant before returning to hunting other specs one it gained all it could from the ant.
It would have abandoned the ant by now as it had no need for it now that had legs but it wasn't fast enough by itself so it believed that it would starve if it left forcing it to stay on the ant.
