Chapter 34 - Echoes of Doubt

Yang Lujia's answer did not completely remove the doubts inside Lin Diyu's mind.

A person who stopped questioning the difference between himself and a tyrant might eventually stop noticing when he crossed that difference.

Lin Diyu understood what his master meant.

Yang Lujia did not want him to blindly accept everything he did simply because he was his disciple. He wanted Lin Diyu to continue thinking, questioning, and deciding whether the methods used by the Origin Court were truly different from those used by the people they intended to oppose.

However, understanding his master's answer did not mean Lin Diyu's discomfort had disappeared.

'He preserved the proof left by the Brushsmiths…'

Yang Lujia had recorded the Ink Signatures connected to the theft of the foundational Ink beneath Script City. He had not given the evidence to Jiang Mingshu. Instead, he intended to keep it and use it in the future if the Emperor became unwilling to fulfill the vow.
