When Aunt PA rushed into the ward, she saw Alice Robinson collapsing on the floor, tears streaming all over her face.
"Miss…"
Aunt PA hurriedly helped Alice up.
Alice sat down on the sofa, still lost in a daze.
Aunt PA said anxiously, "Miss, why did General Laurence leave just like that? Did you quarrel with him?"
Alice slowly came back to herself and said, "He… left?"
Aunt PA nodded. "When General Laurence left, he told me to take good care of you."
Alice's tears flowed even more.
"Miss… what on earth happened? Don't cry…"
Sobbing, Alice finally realized that owing someone a debt could hurt this much.
Aunt PA was so anxious she was about to cry. "Miss… don't scare me…"
In that second, Alice took a deep breath, resolutely wiped away the tear tracks at the corners of her eyes, and calmly shook her head. "I'm fine."
Only then did Aunt PA breathe a sigh of relief. "Miss, you and General Laurence…"
"We've already broken up."
