In the year 2000,
An airborne disease spread wildly and caused the people that are infected to lose their 5 senses, Sense of Taste was the first symptom, next was Smell, Hearing, Sight and Touch in that order, lastly bringing them to a coma stage. A world level crisis with no technology advance enough to create a cure much less understanding how it was made, although there is a disease similar this one before, but it was never a rapid infectious type, Making it the most terrifying disease known to mankind.
During those time, Scientist from different places able to understand some theories about the disease such as different people have different time frame before their coma stage, but that knowledge was already known to people from watching their circles. It was hard to identify where it came from before it's too late.
After 2 year, Half of humanity population recorded dead but not from the virus but lack of facility and supplies for keeping the coma state people. Some wealthy family have the luxury to keep their coma state family member alive but not the ones that have not, which reluctantly let their family member to pass away using lethal injection. It would be a lie to say there were no chaos occur around the world with panic, riot and crime.
It was a tragic year for everyone until a beam of hope was heard from the east side of the globe, claiming they had cured the disease by some sort of meditation to enable the user repelling the disease and cure them.
That was the trigger, the method on meditation involved waking the users so called Qi core. Upon the great discovery, one by one started waking their own Qi Core with the proper method. For those that do not have the talent waking their own core, they only have to find a partner to transfer a bit of their Qi energy and act as a jumper.
Not long after that, some people started to experiment themselves the capabilities of the new-found power from their Qi core. With Qi flowing through their whole body like nerves, other than curing the disease, it also gains users to awe-inspiring things such as enhancing the user body, reinforcing object by contact and even manipulate environment around them like conjuring fire from thin air. The last one was more complex than it seem, but it is possible.
It did not take long for the some higher ups started to gather and hire the ones with potential to join their faction. Government were only preparing for first outcome from them the reason because the factions have not caused any problem yet.
Both actions were the right choice because not long after that large strange beast started to emerged everywhere and attacking people on sight. Some were able to fight back but with the beast having numbers with them, it didn't not last long.
It was like humanity were tested with new problem came after another. Panic rose, houses abandon and people killed, wiping more humanity population. People survived this by quickly joining under factions or serving under the government. Both promise shelter inside their fortress but not without cost.
Nevertheless, people keep fighting back, defending their new homes, trying to survive this world roaming with dangerous beast and slay every one of them off this planet into extinction.
