Liam looked at the monk and listened to him, only to shake his head at the end. "No."
The monk's smile froze. "…No?"
"No break," Liam said calmly. "And we're not going back."
The monk's shoulders slumped instantly. Of course. Why would fate ever be kind? "Amitabah," he muttered and sighed dramatically, which Liam ignored.
"Give me the coordinates."
The monk hesitated for a moment. Then sighed again. He extended his hand, and a faint ripple of light appeared, forming a set of symbols in the air. A teleportation circle as well promptly appeared, and just like that, the hunting resumed again.
A few more days later... a similar scene repeated again.
"Aaaaahhhh!"
A loud scream tore through the air as the monk was dragged across a jagged stretch of blackened ground, his robes caught on something that was very much alive and very much trying to eat him.
