Chapter 2 - Ocean Supreme

throughout time immemorial, mankind has learned the truth of the earth we live in. this beautifully blue globe filled with every color discovered by man has always been magical. it's vastness and great power has never truly been tapped into by our race, until Arthur Cassian, first of the house of Cassian came to discover that man can be atomically bonded to the elements. this magical binding would give way to infinitely new ways of life and information. the human mind expanded, and pieces of the mathematical puzzle that were previously uncovered came and showed us a new way of living. not as a parasite to our planet, but as an integral part and parcel of her. this vibrant and beautiful world, opened her heart to us, and in turn we were changed, living to exist as beings integrated with every possible element she is made of.

an unmatched level diversity within the human race was born, each with unique characteristics that birthed new cultures, traditions and even myths. each of these newly birthed civilizations have always had a common goal. to create a symbiotic relationship with our planet. our home. we are the sea-folk, born through the intertwining of the water element, and the human body. the overseers of the fountains of life, our planet's oceans seas, rivers, lakes and even springs." my fathers deep booming voice traveled through his current and wrapped around us. it was warm, and gentle. as though it was attempting to illicit growth in our own. "our house of Cassian has always carried the weight of a King in these waters. the deep trenches, and the high reefs. each of these are under our rule." he paused, allowing the information we had received to be comprehended. he carefully watched our eyes, and looked for variations and disturbances in our currents. when he found none, he continued. "this does not mean, that we are kings because we are of higher station, but because we are their solution. they look to us to solve conflicts they cannot. this means our minds must be sharp, for if not, we will loose our ability to make the oceans a place fit for our offspring. a place where they can share a connection with terra even deeper than that of familial blood." he said, as his current began to rumble. i saw it. a glance of the little spark of madness present in all of us, save my mother.

hers was a face of pure tranquillity. it was as though she did not understand the depths of the information we had received. her current remained calm, and peaceful. her silk robes floating around her in harmony with her tightly curled raven colored hair, as through we had not just been inadvertently told we are to be kings and queens.

her calm baffled me, as even my father carried an attitude of wariness in regard to sharing this news with us. his voice began to fade. as though it was banished to the edge of my conscious thoughts.

i released my current, in a diffused state. this way it would spread thin enough to be indistinguishable from terra's oceanic currents, allowing it to act as a fog spread out across the anetheum, and even further. i released and could feel it reach the edge of our official property, and even further, to our underwater lakes. i tested its density and it was still too heavy and easily detectable , so a transferred it further. it went down our oceanic outcropping and into the kings city, so vibrant and full of life. at this point the distance must have been at least a thirty kilometer radius. i raised my eyebrow in surprise, impressed by the radius of my current.

with my senses now fully expanded, i held the radius at its position, and began to focus on my mother and her current. hers was a beautiful deep purple color. it looked just like her silk robe, gently flowing about in a spherical shape, with billions of small bursts similar to a solar flare. it showed just how sharp her mind and will was. i lightly tapped a flare, and observed to see any reaction. there was none, save the gentle disintegration and discoloration of both the tendril i used to interact, and the solar flare of my mother. i then wrapped her current in a thin membrane of my own, and instructed it to continue to interact with hers imperceptibly every once in a while. and return feedback when something does change.

"—ill you focus?" i heard my fathers voice right in my ear. it pulled me out of my miniature trance, but i made sure that my little project would be unaffected.

i looked into my fathers eyes and saw them flicker with intent. he didn't want me to be embarrassed, but wanted me to focus on his current lesson.

i returned my attention to him, and let the information flow, and take root in my brain.

"now, more than ever, we need our mental faculties to be as sharper than a mythril blade, as firm as orachalium and as flexible as terra's deep waters." he spoke "our willpower must not falter or we loose our standing. now to ensure that you, my dear children remain sharp and intelligent, you will be joining me as we fix the problems of our ocean empire. i will be acting as your counsel, and you will all be standing in for me as Ocean Supreme, terra be my witness."

i felt something change when he said that. a higher level of awareness settled in my conscious and subconscious mind and i could feel a connection to terra's waters that previously wasn't there. it was as though the ocean was hugging me and continuously whispering into my ear.

"wha—"

"Don't speak yet. embrace it, understand it, and listen to her. she will speak to you." i heard my father's voice in my ear again, a small tinge of urgency present in it. as though there was an enemy that could be listening in on our conversation.

i sent my current to meet his, and convey understanding. his reaction had me thinking about who the enemy could possibly be, and whether they were doing something similar to me, in regards to the immediate state of my current.

that train of thought led me back to my initial project, which was my mother's current. i could faintly see my current trying to interact with her bright silky current and yet the two canceled each other out even now. it intrigued me to no end, for the difference, because as i sent my current out to my siblings and my father there was a faint static feedback through which i could see a general equivalence codex that represented their current state and yet with my mother, it was as though the particles that made up her current committed suicide through tiny explosions which in turn dissipated my own. it was such a fascinating discovery that i couldn't stop thinking about it.

"how…." i murmured to myself.
