"Mom?" I shout, walking back in the front door, "Mom I missed my bus!" I hear a distressed groan from upstairs. "I can't give you a ride today, I don't have room in the car!" she yells back from the bathroom. "I can walk" I say, making my way up the stairs to her. "As long as you get there on time" she replies.
Everything is going as planned.
I start walking, careful not to look suspicious. I wouldn't want both my moms to figure out where I'm actually heading, who knows when they would trust me to walk to school again.
I start walking, taking the usual route towards downtown. I'm not allowed to walk on my own very often, so my parents don't know how fast I can actually go. I have a little under an hour to get a little over two miles away.
I get to the bottom of the hill and check my phone. A text from my boyfriend reads "Good morning". I tell him that I missed the bus and I'm walking to school. Although my parents have no clue, he knows exactly what that means.
I'm not going straight to school.
I have a stop to make on the way.
